ok, i searched and couldnt find this.(95 tsi, 14b turbo, automatic, fmic, intake)
im sitin at a light or stop sign or anywhere and i take off normally, slow cars great after it shifts to second and i floor it, kicks down takes off fine. BUT!!!! if i give it some stick from a stop at maybee 10-15 mph it goes pop and jerks, under almost no boost. WTF is going on here?

Is there something you'd like to share about neutral dropping experiences? :sneaky:
Neutral drop gets you no where quick.

Neutral drops kill tannies. You have an auto use it. Brake torque, hit the brakes then the give it gas for a few seconds to build boost then lift off the brakes and go. It works pretty well.

About your original issues if you could better explain your issue, I can't really tell what you're asking.

Backfiring under boost at moderate RPM is a normal symptom of running too rich. Unburned fuel is reaching the hot exhaust manifold and "popping" off.

Running too rich is a normal symptom of a boost leak. If the condition is more pronounced under part throttle then the leak is more likely upstream of the throttle plate.

Don't neutral drop until you are really tired of your transmission and need a good excuse for a new one. Power brake if you feel the need for a hard launch, and then change the ATF regularly.

Where is the backfiring coming from? I'd check your timing and make sure it's dead on. Also check the tension on your timing belt.
Most of my experience is with large v8's and diesels. Any time you have a backfire in the intake side of the motor it's a timing issue, exaust backfiring could be either fuel or timing or a combination. Need more info for a diagnosis.

how much boost are you pushing on that 14B?

last setup when my car saw the street 2yrs ago

14b
evo8 fuel pump
550cc injectors
20psi
3" turboback
3" intake pipe
fmic
shift kit, trans cooler, trans temp gauge

def gotta watch the boost level, due to running out of fuel (my thoughts were fuel cut) but without actually hearing or seeing it in person not 100%.
