I recently put in the ipt shift kit and shift box in my car the other day but the problem is that the transmission is slipping first to second gear. Someone told me that the problem could be the belt in transmission is slipping.

Always check your fluid level first, smell it and make sure it doesnt smell burned and look for little flakes. Little flakes (as i call pepper) = friction material wear.

It does have that pepper look to it. Its like shiny but the fluid is 3 miles old literally and its not burnt. You think it could be the belt and if so who could I get a stronger one from bc I'm gonna be pushing at least 400 ho

From what i hear the dsm auto trans. are pretty durable. I dont really know where you can get a kit from. There are so many parts in an auto. I think your talking about a band tho not a belt. (dsmtuners needs a dsm wisemen call)

First, you say it slips from 1st to 2nd, then later, it's 2nd to 4th ....

Yep - time for a visit to a tranny shop on this one. Shift bands could be out of adjustment where it's a professional job to get them adusted right in as well they'll check out the selenoids that controls the bands, ECU that controls the shiftpoints for these two gears ... or those friction discs in those two clutches are bad which requires an overhaul.

Automatics - weakest link in any automotive drive train....

These automatic transmissions have been proven over 500whp stock. How is that the weakest link? These don't need much maintence as compared to doing clutchs/flywheel/TOB etc.

Also to the op it sounds like the endclutches if its doing it on OD. Very simple fix that won't cost you much at all.

...just that you don't have 100% engagement between motor and tranny-fluid is doing all the work.

Yet on the other end of the spectrum is that you have the 100% shifting between gears-no disengagement like it when you drop the clutch .... and makes good for 1/4mile runs.

..and why 4X4's love automatics due to this very attribute.

True, the can punch out that much HP, if they're maintained properly ... and with that much HP, I hope you got an external tranny cooler in the loop.
