Hey all I found a 91 n/t eclipse with a auto transmission in it. They want $800.00 for it and I was interested in getting it as a DD. The problem with it is the auto transmission. What it is doing is acting like it is going from drive to neutral and back into drive when sitting still and it dies. If I keep the throttle pressed a little it will still do it but not die. When actually driving the car it shifts fine and smooth and does not slip, any that I can tell, and seems to have no problems. When sitting still if I hold the brake and press the gas as hard as I can without the car moving it doesn't seem to do it either. Sooo I was wondering if anyone knows what this may be or a fix. I have had several dsm's and not a one was auto. :D Thanks all in advance, Keith.

Thanks Poon for the help. Anyone else want to confirm this or have a different opinion? I read the vfaq on the auto upgrades but do I just buy one of those torque converters or can I get something else done to them/a new one to make it alot better and have a higher stall possibly? Thanks again, Keith.

Check for TCU codes, take the cover off TCU and check circuit board, see if having the car in OD makes a difference...

I did drive the car in OD and with the OD off and driving both ways was fine and stopping I had to do the same for both ways. I don't have access to the car because I haven't bought it yet so I can't just check the TCU codes. Any other ideas? Thanks again all and just trying not to make a bad purchase, Keith.
