Well looking for the heater core pipes coming from the dash I removed battery tray and found this fuel pump I think. I just replaced the in tank pump last month.
Is the black canister on the right side with the banjo fitting a fuel filter? There's a braided line coming from what I think is a pump under the battery tray that goes right to the injectors.
Confused .
Thanks for any help

You are correct. The black thing to the right with the banjo fittings is the OEM fuel filter. A hard line goes into it (from the bottom) that's the high pressure fuel line out of the tank. The top banjo leads to a flexible line that goes into the fuel rail.

Not sure how yours is setup but that other thing looks like an external fuel pump?

Honestly... Looks like a Bosch 040 or 044. Check it out. If that's the case case, then you can support some pretty decent power.

thanks all for the replies. bought the car from a guy who said it had a built motor and trans and made 520 to the wheel way back in the day but then it sat in storage for years. the intank pump was making noise so i replaced it with a aeromotive 340. so should i leave the inline pump in place? i am going to replace the filter next since i bet its still original.
i got lucky and scored a new hard water pipe since mine had 3 pin hole leaks in it from sitting with just water while in storage. just had the turbo rebuilt too. the stock manifold had the mitsu flange cut off and a T3 flange welded on for the turbo and the wastegate port welded on top. next is a better manifold.
im pretty new to the 4g and eclipses so thanks for your time.

With an aeromotive 340 in tank you can get rid of the inline pump. Removing that electrical load will reap more benefits on your particular setup than having it inline.

Do yourself a favor and get rid of the banjo fittings on the fuel filter while you are replacing it, those are the single biggest restriction on the fuel system.

Sorry but it sounds like a bullshit redneck special. You dont triple the engines horse power and toss a boost a pump under the battery and weld an eBay t3 on the car just to park it for no reason

Good luck with your endeavor into backyard built modded turbo car. Its going to be a can of worms from the looks of it

i will do that.

i kinda had the same feelings, the more i take apart to replace because of age of the car. im doubting the 520 but it does run and a i got it for a steal since it has under 40k on the clock.
once all the correct things are replaced and its tuned, it will be a good part time DD.
thanks

Nice! Get a factory service manual and check compression and go over maintenance items first

If you find even more cut corners and missing bolts you may want to pull the pan and check torque specs bottom to top.

Rule of thumb, previous owners are always wrong on dsm's, own the car know the car :)

compression is good. near the top on all cylinders. already replaced igniter and coil packs because it had a dead cylinder. replaced O2 sensor, replaced TPS since it was cut off. to make thing even better, it has a standalone ecu, microtec. only tuner for this is 2 hours away.
heater core has been blocked off. had to find new hard pipe.
goal to get it corrected in the next couple months.
