i want to know if i really need them??

my set up

1. hx-35
2. 1000 injectors
3. dsmlink v3 or dsmlink lite v3 (not sure yet)
4. FPR
5. built motor (9:0:1)

and i'm looking for about 450 in HP for my DD....

I don't see aftermarket cams on there. Honestly no, you don't need them. If you are trying to hit records and what not then I'd say get them to get every last ounce of HP out since everything will be lined up at true TDC.

Only if he actually degrees them. ;)

As you know, there's no magic to adjustable cam sprockets that makes them line up at true TDC just the ability to do so. If you spend the time to make it so or spend the time on the dyno adjusting tuning the cam timing for something other than cam centerlines at TDC.

if the head and/or block has been milled.. then yes you will need them ... you have changed the center to center relation of the cams to crank distance, when this happens the cams fall out of spec of where the factory wanted them

you will have to degree the cams to get the full benifit from the cams and gears....
