AEM Adjustable CAM gears

Does anyone use these gears with the timing covers on?
Is there alternate lower profile hardware that's been tried?
Is the stock cam gear bolt long enough to hold these on?

Yes I am. I machined a c'bore almost, but not quite deep enough, so the OEM cam bolt was flush (almost) with enough clearance to fit a socket.

Cover would not fit with mine either, had to use different hardware. I'll see if I can get around to getting some pics or info on the replacement ones. I didn't want to use some weak sauce hardware that let loose while running, but the guys at Road Race Engineering were nice enough to source hardware that was low profile enough to put the cam cover on and not worry about breaking under stress. I have yet to peek under the cover to see what lies beneath, but now I am curious about the cam bolt.

This is a fairly simple task & almost any machine shop should be able to do it. I did mine on a manual lathe. If you were in my neighborhood, I'd do it no charge. If you covered to shipping I would help but shipping is probably more than the cost of find someone local doing this. Include one of the bolts & a socket if they don't have one handy for sizing too.

I run HKS 272 with OEM springs and probably have around 50K miles since, no problems yet.

Where did you locate the hardware?

I used the hardware that came with the clear cover and the covers I have are not expensive, I am thinking $30 max. Cheap
I just spaced the lower cover center post out to hold the cover away from the small bolts and used a step bit to drill the centers for the ARP cam bolts.
This motor hasn't been installed yet but has been rotated a bunch and no contact anywhere. Of course that could change with heat and a truly running motor but for now it is working on the stand, no problems.
