Just to let you know, greathuskie. I was sooooo down for that even being broke.

Greathuskie, Let me know when you recieve the cam gears. Did you order over the phone or over the internet?

on the internet, but first i called to make sure that they came in a set of two, which they said tehy did

i couldnt get polished though, venom doesnt make them anymore, so i got blue instead, it will match my pullies anyway

Thats sucks dude.... the cheapest I found them for are 124.95 a piece. They are at shop.store.yahoo.com/dpstore/venfanadcamg.html - 11k .

i just got adjustable cam gears and i am wondering how exactly i should set them as far as adjustment goes. i really would like a little more power. somone told me a while ago that i can change the timing with these to get more HP. so many degrees on the intake and so many degrees on the exhaust. What is a good setting for more HP?

I know our cars and the neon dohc are the same engine im wondering if the pulleys and cam gears are the same? I have no idea if they are or not Ive never seen inside a neon engine bay. I found a pair crane adjustable cam gears for 120 bucks that id like to put in my 96 but they are for the dohc neon. I appreciate your help.

I do not think they are same.2g eclipse/talon have 420A crysler engine,I do not think that neons use same engine.

ok, I have searched everywhere for even a hint of an answer to my question, but can't really find anything too helpful.

I am basically looking for a good starting point for the timing of my cam gears. I understand that no two engines are alike and that the performance that you get from adjusting the gears are different depending upon your mods. What I am looking for is someone that is familiar with making these adjustments on their 1g non-turbo with similar mods and the type of results that they received from them. I am not sure whether to retard the intake/exhaust or to advance them, or one of each. I am looking to gain on the upper end of the power band since when you are racing through the gears, it never drops below 4500 to 5000rpms anyway.

Basically I just want to know where to start with my trial and errors. There are just too many possibilities to go with. A little help would be nice.

As far as where you want to gain power that is more dependent on how aggressive of a cam you get. The more aggressive the more top end power and less bottom end power.

BTW, how do you like your Pacesetter headers and short shifter?

-mike:talon:

For the price I have no complaints. Even my mechanic was surprised by how well they are built when compared to the more expensive ones. The short shifter, despite the fact it only says that it is minimal differance, actually is a lot shorter of a throw than stock. I would recommend to anyone who doesn't have deep pockets and is looking for results.:thumb:

:talon: :shhh:

I understand that cams play a large part as far as where the power is going to be, but adjusting the cam gears also play a major factor and that is the info that I am looking for right now. I have put larger cams in so now I am trying to dial in the gears to match to what I currently have. Any info to help me out here?

Don't jerk around with this trial and error method. Instead, buy an hour of dyno time and get the real answers.

Good luck.
