Ironic that this is on our '99 Spyder, but when you need a/c, you need a/c!

The a/c system is leaking. We took it to a reputable local import auto repair shop and had them test the system with dye to find the leak(s).

Turns out there was only one leak -- in the compressor. Since it's not worth rebuilding the compressor with new seals, we'll just replace it with a new one.

Looking on RockAuto, we see these brands: GPD, UAC, and Four Seasons. Does anyone have experience with any of these brands, or maybe some other recommendations?

Last year I bought one for my 1g, turned out to be an OEM Denso brand from this place on Amazon. I'm very happy with it but YMMV.

I just installed a complete GPD system on my 2004 Silverado on Tuesday and now that thing is so cold, we have to turn it down and its 103* outside...........My .02¢ :thumb:
New compressor with correct amount of PAG oil, new lines, receiver/dryer and condenser. Works GREAT!!!
Price - $365 and was from RockAuto.

@dwb @1990TSIAWDTALON @spyderdrifter Thank you for the replies. Didn’t think of checking on Amazon, and Denso is a known name.

Good to know GPD brought you such good results.

Tom, check your PMs.

As a followup for future post viewers, the 4G64 and the 4G63 use the same A/C compressor, based on Mitsu Parts Online.

Part # is MR315815
