With the Eclipse finally running again, everything is nearly pieced back together. The only issue now is the air compressor and power steering, to pass inspection in Virginia.

For the power steering belt, I went to Autozone and asked them for the belt, vehicle specific for a 97 eclipse GST. However, I'm using a 4G63 motor pulled out of a 1995 Evo III. The belt that they gave me, as well as I've looked up online, is a V belt, whereas I need a 4-rib poly-v belt approx. 16" long? And I don't know what exactly I need to ask for, as they don't have the early evo generations in their catalog. Is the power steering setup the same on the 1g DSMs? Or does anyone know what I need to ask for to get the right belt? I've looked on the Evo forums as well, but there's hardly any support for the 1-3 gen Evos...

As for the A/C belt, it looks like they gave me the right belt. But the prior owner removed it, along with the belt tension pulley for it? I found the diagram on this site for how it's set up, but I don't know exactly what to look for, as I've googled the part with no prevail.

Does anyone know what the part numbers are to these things I'm looking for, or where online I can get them? Thanks in advance!

If you have the old belt, bring it in, we can just measure it and find the proper one.

When I got the car, it didn't have a power steering belt, I was driving without; otherwise I would. Do most DSMs use just the V belt? or do they normally use the multi-v?

You probably need to try a 1G belt, but if that doesn't work just take some rope and use it to run the path and tie it off, you may need to try a half mm up or down, maybe a mm in either direction, but you will be able to get the right one.

You need air conditioning to pass VA inspections? Sounds like California moved in. ;)

Original belt is over 27" long. This should have the correct part numbers for the belt from Autozone, NAPA, and O'Reilly's: http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/newbie-forum/391038-dumb-question-about-power-steering-belt.html. I really doubt having the Evo block matters.

2Gs use a ribbed belt for the power steering; 1Gs use a V belt.

Most Eclipses around here don't even have the belts, they feel the increase in power is worth sweating a little bit.

Wow, thanks a lot for the information guys. I'll probably just try to contact someone here on the marketplace. As for the inspection, I think I'm throwing in the towel, and I'm going to re-register my vehicle in my home-state, Alaska, to avoid inspection. Thanks for the help, you guys have given me the exact information I needed.

FYI, the only thing that is still available from Mitsubishi on this list is the A/C Compressor Pulley - MB878243

FYI, the thread is 10 years old. At that time, those parts were all still available. So many items are now unavailable that use to be stocked. Ashame.

Well that certainly didn't take long...

I only posted that reply just to save someone some time if they were trying to order those parts from a dealer now in 2021. Your only option now is used parts.

Well unfortunately unless you find a stash or new old stock. There ARE still OEM parts available and our vendors stock most and can get what they list, but with shipping kinda stalled because of the canal deal, things will arrive late I would assume and I'm in shipping.
I wasn't poking at you, I'm sorry. Didn't mean it that way at all.
