Just a brain storm no abs on this car. Could i use dot 4 fluid and some sheilding. Dot3 fluid goes to 284°f?

Ya man, I'm not saying you will have an issue with it, because i have no clue the temps the firewall may see, im just say that i would do it as a precaution to insure the chances of something happening are reduced! :D

Ok heres a update. After moving the engine every way possable i found the sweet spot. There is a hole with a plug that passes thru the right frame rail. The srt engine can use this hole. When measuring put the bolt in and move it to the furthest forward position, and will be center for the 4 inch diam motor mount. Heres a some pics and i should have this beefed up and welded this week with more picks to follow.

This is going to be FN sweet once you get it done. As others have said a right up please. It looks like its comming along nicely though. good luck and keep up with the updates.

Why does every dsm'r cry about getting turbo eclipses. It is really annoying, Plus srt-4's sound crazy and alot sicker to me. So I can't wait for this.

Good to see more people dropping in the 2.4L. I used my original front exhaust head though. Even though it's still n/a, it has a lot more torque then my 420a did.

dude i cant wait to see this thing...ive been wanting to do this for years, and dont understand why more people havent at least done the typical cloud car swaps!!

My guess would be OBD2 emissions inspections. Here in NY they plug the NYSI computer into your ODB2 port every year on anything 96 or newer. An ECU from a different engine type would be an instant no no.

Well not all states are the same md had strick laws but as long as all emissions were on and working and it passed the sniffer, and some states as long as the emisions are transferd and engine is newer than the body then its ok. Im staying in the 4 cyl range and emisions will be srt and the only thing mo wories about is that it has a cat no smog test what so ever.

We don't have a sniffer or smog tests either, but they plug it in, and if a 96 Avenger (for instance) looks like a 96 or whatever DSM (to the computer), it's instantly going to call foul. Even if it runs cleaner than before. Sucks for us.

Nice build by the way.

I am so glad I don't have put up with bullshit Laws about cars in my state....

I would say that the most likely reason that people don't even do the cloud car swap is someone with the know how to do it isn't gonna buy a 420a dsm.

The 420a eclipses sell for just as much if not more than 4g63-T DSMs in my area. And I am not paying 3000+ for a car that needs an engine swap or a short block before its worth anything more than a 2 seat grocery getter.

I payed 1100 for mine it had a short shifter, exhaust system that is no longer in production, fmic, turbo upgrade, and some other parts I sold. All it needed was new headgasket and water line for the turbo. Its got perfect compression, and nearly every receipt for everything ever done to it, and was a 2-owner car. Hell the seats where even still in pretty good condition for a 160k miles car.

I had posted this elsewere some im gona repost.

Ive all ready done the axels for mock up. So what i did was to take the axels apart then changed the ends were they go into the spindel. If u notice the axels are very simular in lenght. Now this is rt side srt and right 420a.

Hmmm cant redo pics. Can't link? Well its in Hangout, under no freggin way.

Oh thanks peeps for the positive input! Nothing like getting mad at this build and some of ## post to get me back on track. Ive posted elsewere with some questions but have yet to get any anserers, so i guess i will have to pull a rabbit out of my hat.

Engine is supported now for the trans side. Sorry for the crappy picks will take better ones when sunny out.

I now have clearance between the engine and frame.

Ok today i managed to get a few hours in on it with the rt rail in and welded, it allowed me to survey and asses what to do. With the motor mount in it pushed the engine and trans over 1 inch, which is what i was wanting. After checking that the car was still level rt to lt i bagan to level the engine and trans then measure for square.

Another pic

With the engine and trans over an inch the trans mount no longer sits inboard of the left rail.

Cuting out a section of rail so that the trans mount will clear.

I then bent a piece of steel to fit the pocket and raised the trans a 3/16 of a inch to allow for drop.

Now with every thing set i then marked the location for the hole for the tans mount bolt. Taking the plate out engine and trans back out so as to start making the insert for the tans mount.

Will post more pics when this mount is done

Well I had a good day got the trans mount made and in the car and the engine and trans back in. Now i dont need stinking blocks! Now its time for the torque mounts.

My grinder took a crap so i will deal with it when its time for bodywork.

Just got done with the upper torque mount before calling it a night and checking for level.
