'99 GS - SRT4 engine swap

Looks to me like a 2.0 block with a SRT head so he could bolt it up to look like a true SRT4 swap...

tell him to send ya a couple pics of the block(both sides we can tell from it).. I was wondering how he got the SRT4 tranny to work?

It looks like a crapy install if u look closely the fuel rail is bent around, has fuel line on it with a clamp. And the bumper is held on with mechanics wire.

And he wants 8,000 for it i dont think so.

I wish I had you around when I was haggling for a GST a few weeks ago.

Awesome build, thanks for not just taking the easy route to power.

I very rarely take the easy way out and seeing as funds are limited it lets me think about the next steps. I was going over wiring last evening, and im going to use the srt complete harness, gauges, and maybe the upper stearing collum. By using the collum it would move the hazard switch, dimer switch, and the fog light switch away from dash and closer to the stearing wheel. Hopefully I can get to work. Thanks for the post it helps keep me going.

Ive had a couple hours to start where im going to mount the srt componets to fit and route wires for a clean fit. This weekend i will be cleaning out the garage and hopefully get the doors and rear bumper off so i can get the car in garage. Here is what ive got done so far not much but its a start.

This is very cool and I give a big thumbs up ! Owned many turbo dodges through the years and that 2.4 is true to its torquey roots.

Sorry if someone already filled you in, but the SRT generation of the 2.4 has a crank trigger not compatable with the older Engine controllers. So the SRT ECU is the best viable option unless you want to get into standalone.

Now as everything is custom in this swap there are many different methods of going about it and I applaud your effort in making it all look clean. Now my BIG question and what I am most interested in, how will the exhaust be routed ? I have long been interested in knowing how one would route an exhaust from the rear of the engine in a DSM.

Very nice so far, Keep it up ;)

Do not, i repeat do not give up. Honestly i hate the GS and RS models but i think the SRT4 swap is the coolest by far, and i do truly believe f the haters on this site, and complete this. SRTs sound soooo sick and are pretty mean, i can only imagine what it sounds like in a eclipse <33 =)

good luck !

Pretty interesting swap. Can't wait to see it finished.

Ive been asked about how im gonna do the exuahst. Ive thinking about it as well. Im getting the car in the garge for winter so i wont be able to yank the engine and trans out till spring. When i had the engine and trans out ive notice that i have to make my own exaust flange. It will go strait down then make 90 and join up with the factory pipe and hopfully this will help. At work i replaced a rear suspension cross member on a dodge stratus and thought that this would help to modifiy the dsm front crossmember. Ive cut out the section i need and will trim to fit come spring and summer.

Thier are alot of other things to keep me busy this winter like wirring, dash, clutch, and tons more i will up date when possable

After thinking about it for a while , I'm going to do the swap. My only concern is how to approach the wiring. : iill post all picks as I go.

Ah ha so is this a brace to tie the subframe back together after clearancing it for the exhaust ?

Hopefully i can get this to work but wont know till spring..

I might be able to use a gsx front member as well.

Your build is awesome. I am looking to do the full transplant because I have the sweet California smog program.
If we are looking to follow in your steps, would share your experience and notes or would you be more of the mentor. You know trouble shoot?

P.S. your ride is my dream.

Props and Respect,
Rico (moouse80)

Thanks Rico

well ive been busy customizing shifter, steering collum, and guages. Since i will be using the wiring harness from bumper to bumper I will have to make sure that it routes to the the componets that im puting in it. I will be doing the harness to the dash firstand work my way out. The reason I am using the guages and collum, 1 I will have less splicing wires, 2 the srt collum has the harzard, dimer, and fog light mounted on it. 3 the srt has a good anti theft system and with it being in a eclipse will throw a would be car theif for a loop. Here is a pick of work in progrees srt guages in a eclipse.
