Hey guys I own a 1994 Eagle Talon ES fwd and I think that my clutch is worn out but I'm not sure. I've done a lot of searching but I haven't found anything relatable to my issue. However, I'm not all that knowledgeable in this subject so bare with me :p. I just purchased this car and had to trailer it home since it wouldn't move. Its on a hoist and I noticed that both the clutch master and slave cylinders were replaced and that's what the previous owner told me as well. Its lifted off the ground just enough to where the wheels aren't touching and when I put it in 1st, it took some effort but it didn't grind. The wheels were spinning a little bit like they should but when I press the clutch in, they still spin. Could this mean that the clutch is gone? I also noticed they're isn't much pressure at all in the clutch pedal. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

No pressure on the clutch pedal, your clutch is likely toast. But here are some simple but absolutely crucial things to do in order to achieve proper clutch engament.

Where the pedal assembly connects to the clutch master slave. This is up by the firewall, You'll have to get up close and personal to adjust this right, and you'll likely need two people.

Have you bleed the system properly and filled with new fluid?

Thanks for the reply! I have not bled the clutch yet. We've messed with the adjustment a bit but it didn't seem to help. So I should probably plan on buying a new clutch kit then?

We were able to get the transmission out, and looked at the clutch assembly. Found out, there were chunks of metal inside in the clutch disc and some of the pressure plate fins were pressed down more than the rest. Not to mention, the clutch disk must have gotten really hot to turn it blue haha. And it also tore up my flywheel which is beyond resurfacing. New parts are on the way!

Congrats on the finding of the problem. So it took you about a month to drop your transmission and see this? :( I figured you would have done this sooner. Make sure to do the job correctly! And don't try and be cheap and not replace the tob while you're in there!

Haha thanks but it took this long because I'm still in high school and I'm working on the car in my auto class on days when there's nothing going on. I would've hoped to had it out the first few days I had it, but with classes going on, I had to work with what I had. I'm sorry if I should know this, but what did you say to replace while down there? :ohdamn:

The throw out bearing, if you buy a clutch "kit" per say from an auto parts store, it will include an off-brand TOB.

It is recommeneded you replace it with an OEM throwout bearing.

Make sure NOT to buy a clutch that has high clamp force! (one rated for higher power like an ACT2600) You could wear out your pedal assembly!

Thanks! I realized that the clutch kit I purchased did not come with a TOB, and I was disappointed, but I did end up buying one from the auto parts store. Keep in mind that I'm trying to balance my budget with the quality of the parts so on one hand, it's better to spend some more money for a better clutch kit, but I also drive a Durango which needs gas ALL THE TIME haha and needs a little work done. Not to mention, it's my daily atm.

Nice to know! Thank you!

I think you may be a little misinformed. Alot of us run heavier clutches with no issues. I personally have run an act 2600 for years and replaced it with a comp stage 3 and never had any pedal issues. In my current car, I'm getting ready to install a 2600.

Better late than never. At least you're on your way to getting your dsm back on the road. Oem tob. Should be around $40.

Right. Actually I have yet to drive it yet. I bought it with a blown clutch and trailered it to my school's auto shop and she's been there ever since haha. She'll be done soon!
