Turbo AWD Automatic. Well long story short I bought this car and got a ton of extra parts with it. The headgasket decided to go out on me within 2 days of buying it to the point it wouldnt crank. So now Im getting ready to start working on it. The only thing with it right now is that Ive got a spare 6 bolt block that I would like to build before I rip the car down but the guy that sold me the car only had one main cap for it. I could get some more main caps for free from a friend but I still havent priced getting it line bored.

Mods when I got the car:
walboro 255, 2g manifold and o2 ported, small 16g

Left over stuff from parting out my neon:
Adjustable FPR, AEM wideband, 30/30 phantom boost gauge, gunmetal slipstreams

So far I have purchased:
Front mount with piping, 3in gm maf, mbc, wiseco/manley stroke combo, arp head studs, MLS headgasket

Up next:
2.4 crank, dsmlink v3, 1200cc injectors, BC cams, hughes stall

Then later on Im going to go with a bigger turbo as soon as I have the cash for it.

Im going to leave it stock unless it cant handle the heat. Got the trans finished and took it around the block. It has some how developed and oil leak, and ate another belt but other then that all that is left is wiring up the last fan and wiring up the tranny to shift on toggle switches.

As for SBR luckily it was just a $20 order but I spent almost $800 with them earlier in the build with the rods and pistons and everything was great but then I order some valve cover bolts and they completely ignore me.
 
Drove the car around last night, didnt beat on it or anything. Drives and shifts good, still has an oil leak that I need to figure out but with 1 stock fan and 1 slim fan on a 180 thermostat everything seemed to be fine.

On 12psi the talon pulls my srt-4 from a roll and my srt traps 108 all day.

It pulled the srt a little on 12psi, Ive got to get a check valve for the brake booster and build a boost leak tester. For some reason oil keeps filling the valley on the valve cover and the crank seal is going to be replaced very soon to fix that leak. I replaced the valve cover thinking it was cracked, but no change so I zip tied a paper towel around the oil cap thinking that was the leak but the oil came back and the paper towel was dry so I might have another cracked VC. Little bugs considering it doesnt overheat, the trans shifts great, and it runs smooth at part throttle. Oh yea and the ac, powersteering, and cruise still all work.
 
Yea, I fixed the VC leak today, and got everything to build my boost leak tester. Still hoping to have it ready for mopars at the rock in rockingham on april 17th.
 
Good build i just read through all of it and youve come a long way, gotta show love i also have the same color and year talon but mine is a 5 speed :), i love the teal color with the black top didnt know it was "rare" though. Good luck ill keep reading up :thumb:
 
Leak tested the crap out of the car. Fixed 5 boost leaks, the car is spiking 20psi now. Just bought a throttle body gasket cause mine is pissing boost everywhere so gonna put that on and attempt to fix the oil leak tomorrow.
 
Yeap, Im off work this week so hopefully I can get the oil leak taken car of. Its making 22psi right now and running pretty well with a basic tune. Gonna button up some things and turn the boost up.
 
Its not leaking yet (22psi). I have it crushed, I ran 26lbs on my first gen neon that was making 400whp+ on a crushed 1g bov and it wasnt leaking. Ive been tinkering a bit with my srt-4, got a diablosport tuner and a 3 inch o2 housing for it so hopefully it should be in the 12.8 range next time out on 205 street tires. The talon should be hitting the track for the first time within the next 2 weekends as long as nothing goes crazy with it before then.

Going to take the car over to my dads place and charge the ac today since the weathers getting warm. Cruise and power steering are working great also. :)
 
read this whole thread and then realized who you were.LOL gonna be nice to see which car you take to the rock. our biz is picking up a talon or gsx in the next few months to build so i thought i'd jump on here. now i can just bug you for info.LOL

btw if you find a roller/shell/blown motor tsi or gsx lmk, we lookin for one

Keep and eye on ncdsms and craiglist, they pop up a lot on there.

The neon will definitly be there and hopefully be in the 12's, maybe mid 12's if someone lets me borrow some 23's.

The dsm is having a little wiring issue but I have a guru coming to help figure that out hopefully today and my tuner is going to be in maxton for the standing mile this weekend so I might just throw a safe tune on it to run it if there isnt enough time.
 
very nice find! I got my most recent dsm in red, powdercoated the crap out of everything that i didn't replace with stainless steel under the hood. And i'm working on transforming it from a laser to an eclipse, so it's a couple of colors right now! But when i get it done/painted i am going to use a color very close to that on the top.
