Regina,
so im wanting to buy a 1992 talon tsi awd 5spd, it has 148,000 kms, the interior is good along with the exterior, tires are garbage, it has the 4 bolt rear diff, 6 bolt motor and a lsd with abs, it is the top of the line talon for that year, anyway i did a compression test but i dont know if the guy did the way u are supposed to he never disconnected the coil wire like he was supposed to, i dont know if the battery is that good, and i dont know if he did while holding it a WOT, the 4th cyl read 120, the next one read about 100, the next one read about 95 and the other was around 85, when he did a wet test he used a couple squirts of tranny fluid OMG and they all stayed within a 4-5 radius didnt go up or down. he want 6500(canadian) firm. ne comments would be great.

With those compression ratios if they are correct the rings are worn and the motor is going to need to be rebuilt. Standerd compression ratio is about 145 to 160 in all cylinders
I am american dont know what the transfer rate on canadian dollars are but I wouldnt pay over 3 grand (American) for that car.

:talon:

Still you never know man those are dangerously low compression ratios my car doesnt burn a drop of oil at start up or at WoT but it runs rich as hell and the compression is low.

:talon:

Talk to the guy selling it, tell him you want to take the car to a mechanic you trust and have them go over it. Shouldnt cost much and you will get an honest unbiased opinion of the condition of the car.
6500 canadian thats like what 4500-5000 US?

everything checked out but the compression, i took it to canadian tire i dont know if u guys have heard of it, but i know a bunch of mechanics that work their so i got to go in the shop and check the stuff i wanted to check before he did the compression test, turbo is good, timing belt is good, air filter is good, oil is clear, no leaks, exhaust manifold is not cracked, brakes are good, but the compression is a little to low  , but the car is still fast as hell and runs strong.....

Low compression=future rebuild. Keep that in mind when negotiating the price, I wouldn't pay top dollar for a car that is definatly gonna need a rebuild. take it easy on it and should last for a while till you can afford the lower end build.
