92 awd talon tsi

ok so im debating about trading my 1994 accord ex 4dr for a 92 awd 5spd talon. heres the info on the car [the talon that im thinking about getting]

daily driver 92 awd 5spd w/ sunroof, pwr windows,locks, heater and ac work just needs recharging,... car has:

w/ dual a pillar pod

all the hard work is done.. this car is ready to mod. i was about to buy the trubo and front mount etc.. but i decided i NEED a 4dr.

this car runs great and is dependable, i drive it about 64 miles everyday to and from work... the car is the seafoam green w/ tan leather int w/ black... car has hail damage, no broken windows or anything.. car doesnt look the best.. as a matter of fact it kinda looks like hell.. but i was going for the "sleeper look" w/ this car .. the car isnt rusty or anything.. just small dents everywhere and some paint fade... ALL the maintenence has been done and its ready to mod.. the headgasket will hold 38psi+ of boost...the ONLY leak is from the transfer case (not bad) it just needs to be taken to the dealership for the recall to be done.. trans shifts great and has gm synchromesh in it, the rear end has red line in it, and the transfer case gets redline also.. i would love to keep this car but im about to have a kid and there just isnt enough room in the backseat for the child seat...

ive got receipts for EVERYTHING on this car.. ive put most of it on myself except for the frontend work.

i would trade STRAIGHT UP for a 4dr car that is in decent condition and dependable w/ a/c,heater, good tires, and 4 or 6 banger for decent MPG... i would also sell it as well... make offers... entertaining trades or cash.. i can take some pics and send them out this evening .. just send me a email address.. im not being very picky here just getting a feeler here.. .again im open to trades, trade+cash, or just cash

sooo do you think i should make the trade? only thing im worried about is how relible the talon will be.

As long as all sched. maintenence is done on the car, and is continued to be done, the car will be very dependable. Not to mention, with a turbo, if you keep it at like 3k rpm or less (just shifting normally, not racing), it should get like 24mpg.

the honda will proablly be more reliable, as hondas are known for it..

that dsm looks like a great buy, not much for the color though.

Actually I think it would be a fair trade straight up since KBB didnt take into account all the upgrades.

Easy buddy, it just sounded wierd, and you didn't say it was out of the listing, or maybe I just read it too fast. KBB is really hard on DSM's as far as the AWD's go. You can usually get around $3,000 for a TSi, GSX, or RS I think is what the AWD laser's are. People know that they're good cars and everyone I talk to always is like, "Is it a TSi?"..."Yep" with a . Accord's are good car's and I had a 2001 DX which is the base model, but I still liked it. Personally I would go for the TSi.

I would straight up trade it unless you think your car is worth quite a bit more than 3k (actually I would trade ANY Accord for that DSM at any price ). Cause 3k for that Talon looks like a good deal. Get it before some else does, guy sounds ready to trade.

I'm sure that most on this board will aggree that AWD DSM's are getting harder and harder to come by (especially in decent shape) and if it's not in pieces will more than likely get more than the KBB price. 5th gen Accord's are a dime a dozen. One thing you should definately take into consideration though is being able to do maintenence on your own. It will break down at some point and most of the time labor is very expensive. If I could do it over I would have bought an AWD rolling shell (with decent paint and interior) and a 4G63t engine block and had it rebuilt with forged pistons and rods. Then just by the cheapest tranny I could find and ship it out to Shep and have it rebuilt. That way for about the same price you would have bullet proof internals and a reliable tranny. Anyways, what I was getting at is that most of the time an AWD DSM will usually start around $2500 and go up from there. At least this is in my area (within 500 miles of southern Oregon).

only thing that is stopping me is that the transfer case has a leak. i think it could be much more of a problem than he is making it out to be. but i dont really know alot about dsms.

Do a compression test if you can. Check the turbo for shaft play. Check all the fluids, check to see if the oil smells like gas, check if the coolant looks ok. Check the plugs when you do a compression test. Take it for a drive and do a little spirited driving to ensure that its in ok shape. If it smokes a lot, hesitates, or does anything out of the ordinary you have a reason not to buy it or some leverage to have him throw in a little $ with the trade. Good luck.
