92 talon tsi awd automatic

ok i bought my nephew a a 92 tsi with the 6bolt engine in it, well after we put the intercooler back on and a few other items we tryed starting the car at first it would only start with the help of some carb choke cleaner then it began to run on its own but not idling so i did the searches on here made sure no boost leaks swapped out the coolant temp sensor and double checked all vacuum lines but here is the the problem the car starts but wont idle you can keep it running by holding the gas and keeping it about 2500rpm's or higher i swapped out the mafs for a known working one and same conditions i am kinda lost as where to look now could someone help point me in a different direction to go with diagnosing his problem now the trani is drained of all fluids as we are about to do a filter service on it the car only has 97k miles on it so please guys id like to see his car up and running start tossing me some idea's on what it could be

Well yes people do like to read proper grammar. have tried running the car with the maf unplugged? Could the fuel injectors be plugged with bad gas or debris?

Have you checked fuel pressure or done a compression test? The comp. test would be lower numbers since things aren't warmed up, but it would still probably show you if anything was seriously wrong.

try changing the spark plugs
