I thought I would post a log of my talon and it's work in progress. I bought the car in april of last year. When I bought the car I was told that since it had poly urethane motor mounts that was the reason the car shook really bad, which was hard to believe but I never had poly mounts on a car before so I didn't know any better. After driving it for a month I found out the balance shaft was out of phase. A friend of mine helped redo the timing in the car and get the oil pump in phase. After doing that and seeing how low my oil pressure was I decided to park the car and do some maintenance on the car and started ordering parts for it. It took a while of being lazy and contemplating before I started to work on the car.
The following parts that are going in the car:
Oem Timing belt
Auto tensioner
Idler pulley
Tensioner pulley
Oil pump sprocket
Balance shaft elimination kit
New oem front case/oil pump
Front and rear main seals
Main timing belt cover
Transfer case yoke seal
Properly functioning fiav off of my 94 non turbo eclipse (suspect for it's idle issues)
90 style oil cooler housing
B&M oil cooler
Stainless steel braided lines with ?an fittings
New starter plate and flywheel cover plate
Main bearings and rod bearing (once I figure out what I need to do in order to replace them. Lol.)
Knock sensor
1g black cas
Socketed eprom ecu
Autometer electric oil pressure gauge
Zaklee cam gears cover
I also tore out the old leather interior that was all torn up and replaced it with the non leather seats and door trims that were in mint condition from my 94 eclipse. The goal is to have it running the next week or two and finally driving it daily. Future mods plans are:
DSMlink
750cc fic injectors
Walbro 190 fuel pump
Different FMIC
EGT gauge
Wide band
4 bolt rear end
Mbc
O2 housing with an open dump
Lowering springs
Take off the ### two tone paint that has red glitters!
Mods currently on the car
Slowboy racing stage 2 race head with SI valves
ACT 2600
Evo 3 16g
Evo 3 manifold
Poly urethane mounts
VRS turbo back exhaust
Evo 8 fmic
Koyo aluminum radiator
Autometer boost gauge
Blitz full auto turbo timer
When I first bought the car and after taking off the stock rims and tires.
Started to work on it.
Motor is out finally!
This is my first time doing repairs of these nature, hopefully everything will be put together right. Lol.
