Turbo AWD Automatic. Well long story short I bought this car and got a ton of extra parts with it. The headgasket decided to go out on me within 2 days of buying it to the point it wouldnt crank. So now Im getting ready to start working on it. The only thing with it right now is that Ive got a spare 6 bolt block that I would like to build before I rip the car down but the guy that sold me the car only had one main cap for it. I could get some more main caps for free from a friend but I still havent priced getting it line bored.

Mods when I got the car:
walboro 255, 2g manifold and o2 ported, small 16g

Left over stuff from parting out my neon:
Adjustable FPR, AEM wideband, 30/30 phantom boost gauge, gunmetal slipstreams

So far I have purchased:
Front mount with piping, 3in gm maf, mbc, wiseco/manley stroke combo, arp head studs, MLS headgasket

Up next:
2.4 crank, dsmlink v3, 1200cc injectors, BC cams, hughes stall

Then later on Im going to go with a bigger turbo as soon as I have the cash for it.

We got the wiring fixed up last night. I had figured judging by the residue on the top of the dash that some one had glued some sort of tuner on the dash before I owned the car. The cutting off and not wanting to start issues were brought on by this. The o2 sensor, knock sensor, and a couple other wires had been poorly tapped into on one of the plugs on the computer. We pulled out a rat nest of wires and old brass fitting and resoldiered everything back to stock. Car runs good, but I still need to do a little logging and tuning with the link and if that goes well and the weather holds Im going to take it out sunday for some low boost runs.

Took the car out to try and get bugs out of it, blew intercooler pipes everytime I upped the boost. Couldnt get the car out of the hole at all. The only cleanish pass I got out of it was on 15psi.

I want to say Im dissappointed but it didnt break anything and it hasnt really been tuned good enough. Try again next week after a little more work.

i've came to realize the best race days aren't the quickest but the ones where the car gets home safely. my buddy ran his fastest pass ever and then broke 2nd gear next pass. it was fun but not really.:ohdamn:

I mean other then having to order the elbow for the piping and replacing a leaky exhaust manifold gasket the tune seems to be the only thing that is lacking at this point.

I would say that something is definitely wrong here. That time is slower than a bone stock auto awd was "rated" from the factory. I know you said you couldn't get out of the hole but why was your 60' so bad? Auto and awd n/a is probably almost that fast.

Not trying to bash I'm just disappointed that this car didn't run much faster since I've been watching your thread from the beginning. I just wanna help out if I can.

Well this car is my first stalled auto, I was having serious boost leak issues, and it was on low boost. Not trying to make excuses or anything like that, just a big journal bearing turbo + no nitrous + my inexperience with automatic cars, piled on top of the leaks and stuff. This sunday weather permitting I will be back at it. The trans shifts fine and has been completely rebuilt so Im not worried about it.

Overall I'm happy to get the car out and make a couple passes in it, unfortunatly the cards weren't stacked in my favor the first time out but thats what test and tunes are for.

if this one is anything like the 2g that was up here one time it all depends on the stall. he ran 2 13 second passes in the 1/8th. then he finally got it to stall and smashed in a 6.7@108, freaking nasty run. he had a 13 second reaction time but a 6.7 E.T.LOL

Yea I mean like I said, big journal bearing, decent sized stall, full weight car, its all about getting it off the line and keeping the intercooler pipes on.

Yea I think I have the piping issue worked out, I took the turbo off and inspected it and its good to go so Im going to put it back on and get back to trying to figure out my issue.

Are you using t-bolt clamps? Those crappy little intake clamps used on most cars don't hold up well on intercooler piping.

Well I borrowed a turbo and went to crank it up and it was acting really funny. After closer inspection the crank key had cracked the timing had retarded a lot. After fixing that which it took a bit to figure out the issue I had to take the borrowed turbo back off cause my friend needed it back. I havent had a chance to test it but I rtv'd the back of the compressor housing where it seemed to be losing boost and I'm hoping thats what was wrong but I'm not sure yet. On a lighter note I was able to fill the ac and it blows very cold so that good. Cruise/ac/powersteering ftw.

Another update. Took the car for a spin and everything went well until the computer started acting up. I sent it back to ecmlink and they said they were sorry for overlooking the messed up socket in it the first time I sent it back and they fixed the socket for free and it should be back today so I can put it in and try it out.

Kudu's for your persistence, it will definitely pay off.

UPS didnt drop the comp off til pretty late, did some part throttle and idle adjustments and it drives and runs like a dream. Went for a pull from first gear and it made about 15psi and was pretty rich when I shifted and blew an intercooler pipe off. It was getting dark so I'm going to put it on tomorrow and hopefully get some wot logs and tuning done.

Im not sure, like I said it had got to about 15 in first but was sputtering a bit cause the a/f was low 10's then it blew the pipe on the 1-2 shift. I will know later today.

Turned it up to about 20psi and the alternator died while I was tuning on it today. Ugh
