Turbo AWD Automatic. Well long story short I bought this car and got a ton of extra parts with it. The headgasket decided to go out on me within 2 days of buying it to the point it wouldnt crank. So now Im getting ready to start working on it. The only thing with it right now is that Ive got a spare 6 bolt block that I would like to build before I rip the car down but the guy that sold me the car only had one main cap for it. I could get some more main caps for free from a friend but I still havent priced getting it line bored.

Mods when I got the car:
walboro 255, 2g manifold and o2 ported, small 16g

Left over stuff from parting out my neon:
Adjustable FPR, AEM wideband, 30/30 phantom boost gauge, gunmetal slipstreams

So far I have purchased:
Front mount with piping, 3in gm maf, mbc, wiseco/manley stroke combo, arp head studs, MLS headgasket

Up next:
2.4 crank, dsmlink v3, 1200cc injectors, BC cams, hughes stall

Then later on Im going to go with a bigger turbo as soon as I have the cash for it.

Sounds to me like you're off to a good start.
There's just something about a stock DSM under the hood.. it's like a short skirt or low cut top screaming "use me" ROFL

Only thing I don't like is the color of the VC, it doesnt contrast well with your car's colors.

I got it for $1600 and I got a ton of parts off of a 91 5speed awd car so if anyone might need anything shoot me a pm.

As of right now it is sitting waiting for parts to arrive, then its time to get the ball rolling. I hope to atleast get in the 12's with the 16g then probably going to go 35r. I also want to be able to use the car to keep some miles off my 04 srt-4 that I daily drive.

Well a couple of my friends locally are running them, and just with the stall done one has been 9.90 on nitto radials and the other runs high tens on 205 street tires.

looks like a good deal. How does automatics hold up in these things?

Nice price run the Hx40 with that setup and you will see some numbers. Get you to 12's pretty easy

12's from the little turbo would make me happy, then move on to a good sized one. The final goal is gonna be a pump gas mid 11 second street friendly car that might go 10's on race gas. I just want to have enough turbo where I can reach my goals easily and have a little room to max it out just in case.

I would have to say that is a nice looking Talon. I am new to the DSM world and its exciting for sure. I just got my 98 GST Spyder and 2 weeks after acquiring it I put on a front mount with hard piping, and I love what that has done for me. Definitely looks like you got of to a good start for sure..

yep, I completely agree. about the VC and the short skirt/low cut top thing. :D

you bought this car from my brother in law. i do know that the h/g on the car was just replaced on it not 600 miles ago, but like i told him, it pays to buy a good one rather that the h/g that comes with a 50.00 complete engine rebuild. good luck with the car

...another rare teal 1g. Nice find.

I've only seen one in person that teal color. And the guy just leaves it in his garage and doesn't touch it. It's 5spd, turbo, and AWD. Not to mention it has zero rust on it.

neither does this one:thumb: its a very clean car. i told him not to sell it but you know how all these young punks are..............get frustrated with one thing then its time to get rid of and move on to a civic.....LOL :tease:
to all the young ones, just joking

haha, Im 22 and Ive already worked on one car for 3 years going from 16's to mid 11's over that period of time. I figure if I can do that with a FWD I wonder what I could do with a AWD.

As of right now I have:
Adjustable fuel pressure reg
front mount and piping(need couplers and t-bolt clamps)
Dsmlink V3
multilayer HG
3 inch turbo back exhaust
manual boost controller
Innovative lc-1 wideband
manley rods
walboro 255
30/30 boost gauge
other stuff listed in post 1

Parts ordered:
gasket kit
wiseco stroker pistons

Parts still needed:
2.4 crank (6 bolt)
Restalled torque converter (hughes)
1200cc injectors
bearings
cams springs retainers

If someone could point me in the right direction to find a crank I would appreciate it, having a little trouble finding one at a fair price.

yea, there just arent many decent junk yards around here, and I have seen a few floating around but people just wont get back to me about them

Clearancing the block for the 2.4 crank tommorow. Machine shop monday. Still waiting on the pistons to come in from slowboy. Rode in a t67 car last week and I think I might be going that direction with the car when I have the money.

All I lack right now is:
cams, spring and retainers, torque converter.

Probably going to run dual walboro 255's since I have 2 of them. Trying to figure out how long the ported little 16g will last on the 2.3 bottom end. Might put a little gas on it also.

got the wiseco/manley stroker piston rod combo on slowboy

The plan for it right now is a daily drivable 11 second pump gas car. Its gonna stay full interior, ac, power everything, cruise etc. Only thing I plan to take off is the abs.

Did a little clearancing today on the block, its going to the machine shop monday. Might wait off on the cams for a bit. Next on my list is torque converter, fpr, and injectors. Already have a progressive meth kit that I took off of my neon when I parted it out that Im going to put on it.

I hear that journal bearing turbo's dont hold up to well on automatics.
