I have a 94 Talon TSI AWD 5-Speed that has some electrical problems. I found a guy that has a complete engine wiring harness from a 91 TSI AWD 5-speed. Will this harness match right up to mine? He is asking $100 for it...is this a good price? Any help or opinions would be great. thanks!!!

That harness should work and the price seems about right, if the harness you are getting is 100% working. What kind of electrical problems are you having? If you can figure out exactly what wires are faulty or if it even is the wires, it might be easier/cheaper to just repair the wires rather than doing a harness swap (getting the harness through the firewall is not fun!).

The harness is exactly the same. I will tell you this; I would try to figure out the problem with your harness before swaping in a new harness because that is a job. Especially if you have to spend $100.

yes the 91 and the 94 are the same harness.... aslong as the one you are buying is not for an automatic!!
Ill tell you tho, its a pain to swap out a wire harness!!
Done it myself a few months back!!

Good Luck tho!!

100$ is ok for a used harness. The replacement really depends on the condition of your actual harness, if its ripped a lot or not, and if visibly it has some tear. If your problem is minor then fixing the harness can save you those 100$. Replacement once again comes to the condition and the amount of issues you are experiencing with the actual harness. I have a 90 gsx, and i changed my whole harness to a 91-94, mainly because of the conditon my harness had. I changed all the sensors, coil, TPS, CAS, the full cluster, Igniter and spliced a lot of wires to make it fit with the 90 interior style harness. Was it worth it? Yes. Now i can find a lot more sensors and parts for a 91-94 dsm for a lot cheaper price, and i have the peace of mind that my harness wont cause me troubles for a long time to come. Good luck. :thumb:

Yes it might be easier to find the problem first, rather than replace the entire thing, there could be a short in the new one or damage. I did a wire hide, it took time but it was wortht it, plus i learned a lot about wiring harness in my dsm.

Thanks for all the replies...here is the problem I am having with the car. I posted it a few weeks back and got a bunch of replies but i'm always looking for more help....

I am looking at buying back my old 94 Talon TSI AWD. When i sold it to a friend of mine about 4 years ago, it didn't run, and needless to say he didn't do anything with it.

Anyway, when it quit on me. I was driving along the highway and it just shut off, like someone turned the key off. When i went to start it back up, there was no power. No dash lights, no relays turning on..nothing. There wasn't any loud noises when it happened, it just shut off and wouldn't even turn over. I know its some sort of electrical problem, but i don't know where to begin. Any help or ideas would be appreciated! thank you in advance. If anyone needs anymore info please let me know. thanks

Check the fuses, there´s 3 that go to the battery, one of them i dont remember the name exactly, but if it blows, it takes your power away. Also check the alternator wiring and contact, if it goes bad, the car looses power as well. good luck. :thumb:
