woundering sence alot of people seem to do it my car makes 9psi right not everythings stock (getting a boost tester cause i think it should be 10psi) how much gain should i get with the extra 4-5 psi? i think 14 is what everyone said to set it too on stock

I'm sure you know this but before you raise boost levels make sure to check for leaks!! Also other misc. services!

We can't answer this for you, man. For all we know you have a giant boost leak at the top of your intercooler and 14psi will make the car slower because of the timing pull.

If you really want to know stuff like this, take the car to a dyno and measure the HP gain before and after the increase.

A friend's completely-stock Evo VIII made 226whp pn a Mustang dyno last year, and those cars are 16G-powered at around 18psi from the factory with higher compression than your 1G. If I had to guess I'd say you'd be making 145whp at 9psi, maybe 160ish at the wheels at 14psi.

We can't really race your bench on our bench here. Different benches make different power according to who owns the bench. Justin's bench is probably pretty accurate, but he told me he has a ton of turbos to rebuild on his bench, so it's probably pretty cluttered too.

I would try taking it to a dyno to get your accurate power gain. :)

On a serious note, Justin is correct: We can't really estimate power levels or gains from certain modifications or mod lists. Every car is going to be different. Just a note, though: Most people think that all they have to do is raise boost and it'll make more power on a stock system. They do this without paying attention to their knock levels, and when they bump up from a ECU-happy 11psi to a knock-happy 17psi, the ECU turns down the timing, reducing power. Thus, increasing boost just lost power. Keep that in mind when you're messing with your boost levels.
