i am planning on purchasing a few things for my car next week and i would like to know about how much the hp increase will be and if it will even be noticable......hard intercooler piping, type s bov and 3in down pipe (cat eliminator).....thanks for any relpies

I vented for three years with no issues. Now I have the sheet metal intake I plan to move on to a GM MAFT setup and recirculate and move to a TIAL BOV. If you look at my gallery you'll see that I'm having an issue finding a fitting to join the intake with the BOV in order to recirculate because they are so close. I'm moving to the TIAL because it is better designed BOV than my current one.

Back to the topic. You need to get your cat back in order to for the downpipe to make a difference. The mods you mention will add a little and will open it up on the top end IF you do the cat back but you need to think about further upgrades if you want to see real noticable gains.

I'm moving into my apartment this morning so I'll have my comptuer hooked up sometime today. I'll show ya then. :thumb:

But i did numerous track tests with my other hks bov, i re-routed it and drove my car a certain way, vented it and drove the exact same way and not one damn thing was different. If the running rich assumtion is true it would only be true with the stock BOV cause it LEAKS AT IDLE, which means when u let off the gas its doing exactly what it does when ur sitting in ur driveway, aftermarket bovs are just a lot better

Letting off the throttle does not automagically make it just the same as when it sits in your driveway. It's going to feed fuel based off of how much air it thinks is flowing through the intake system, and how many RPM's the engine is spinning. If that weren't the case, you would run EXTREMELY lean after letting off the accelerator at redline.

When you vent to the atmosphere without running a MAP or GM MAS sensor, you ARE running rich between shifts. Is it bad for the engine? Not necessarily. Will you feel a performance difference? Maybe not. But you WILL see a fairly decent decrease in gas mileage.

Get a datalogger. It will show you that you are running rich. This is not arguable -- this is fact. That being said, it's your car, and I'm not going to try to tell you what to do with it. If you want a loud BOV, more power to you. It doesn't attract women, because most don't care, and even the ones that do 90% of the time don't know what that noise means. Does it scare ricers? That's arguable -- but venting just because of the noise is arguably ricey. Personally, I'll keep mine quiet, thanks. It's better to see them in the rearview mirror when they're disheartened because they just had their doors blown off than to have them step down.

its a modification that decreases engine perfomance and serves no purpose other than as a noisemaker.... rice? yep. it does sound cool but do it right if you are going to do it at all

imo of course :)

back on topic..
Like they said before get the boost gauge first before you do anything, this actually isn't an option. After that, look at this http://www.rnrracing.com/cgi-bin/cc...d=9752373&rrc=N&cip=24.107.87.112&pg=specials turboback for 500, or O2 eliminator turbo back for 625
Next look up dejon tool for an intake and a K&N
Finally MBC, and you've pretty much finished the first set of mods you'd need.
basically follow this http://www.dsmtuners.com/tuning-guide/ more or less

You'll definately feel the difference :thumb:

i understand what u guys are saying, and lord knows i agree with u in some respects of my attitude towards my car, but, this is my first turbo vehicle, and as of right now i would like to get every single thrill possible out of my car, for me having a loud ass sexy bov does the trick, just so it keeps reminding myself i'm running a turbo car. Maybe in a few years i'll be completely burnt out on the sound of a bov, and in that case i'll go back to my 1g vented, but until then i'm going to enjoy having everyone at my school stare at me knowing i have a car that would smoke the shit out of their ####y ass civics and all motor v8s.

And that's fine, we just want you to understand that it is bad for the car, even if it's a negligible amount. If you understand this and want to do it anyway, that's fine, none of us are going to stop you, we just want you to understand what it will do.

As far as blowing the doors off all motor v8's, some might shock you. 8's are easy to open up to get absurd power out of...things like headers that only net us a few hp and a quicker spool time, can net them upwards of 30-40hp at the crank. It's easy to make a fast 8, so never underestimate them.

there is a huge mob of f body's in my town and they are pretty much the kings of the streets, one of them is running 9's and the rest are 10, 11, 12 sec cars easy. it takes a LOT more work on a dsm to match an ls1 car with fairly basic mods. i have yet to beat one myself. mustang gt's on the other hand.. ive yet to lose to one :D

We'll be seeing more of you in this forum I am sure of it., probably some in the Problem Diagnosis Forum too. You come here asking for the best advice and everyone has repeatedly said its best to "recirculate" and you keep saying "no, I am a prophet against ricers when I am driving a turbo car".

Your gonna be a broken down DSM owning guy before its all said and done. If you care nothing about the health of your japanese sports car, thats fine....we all need some stock replacement parts when you decide to part her out.

97FWDtsitalon Get a 1G Bov, and open air filter, a Dave brode UICP ,and a intake pipe.....best bang for the buck, and "proven" reliability., all for the price of those "pretty" BOV's., a Cat-back and test pipe would help out for all that freed up intake air you'd need expelled.

the airfilter
brode UICP
1G bov
turbo inlet pipe
catback and test pipe

have been proven good for 25-30 hp.
