i am planning on purchasing a few things for my car next week and i would like to know about how much the hp increase will be and if it will even be noticable......hard intercooler piping, type s bov and 3in down pipe (cat eliminator).....thanks for any relpies

It's pretty hard to give you numbers but there won't be much of a difference. The downpipe really won't do too much because you still have restriction in the back, Bov is just to allow more boost and piping will just free things up. For about $12 you could have gotten a boost controller(Must have a boost gauge) to turn up the boost and that would have made the biggest difference. But all much needed upgrades though :thumb: .

intercooler piping - 3hp maybe, but quicker spool up
bov - wont do shit unless u turn the boost up
downpipe - do you already have a cat back on it?

are you stock...? yes, you'll notice more power in your butt dyno, but an exact estimate well maybe 5-10 whp my rough guess, but why don't you instead of a downpipe start with a cat-back... its better, unless you already have one.

yeah i forgot to mention the $9 boost controller off ebay......and yeah i guess i should get a cat-back system with everything else too.............i already got a boost gauge and k&n fipk

do not hook that boost controller up if you dont have an aftermarket boost gauge.

bov - wont do shit unless u turn the boost up

tskk tssssk

a new BOV will easily give u more power from the eye of a riceman, he hears a stock bov on a dsm when u pull up to him he will be skeptical, but a dsm with aftermarket bov and he'll just put his tail between his legs. :thumb:

THERE IS SUCH A THING AS COSMETIC WHEELPOWER!

ya well for having the name ILOVETURBOS, we all know u love the bov too, i'm sorry call me noobish and tacky and whatever super cool original insulting names u can conjur up, but i love the sound of my RFL *VENTED* BOV. THATS RIGHT I SAID IT, VENNNNNTED, this is my setup:

Whole stainless steal UICP
TurboXS RFL Type-H BOV *VENTED*
and a Straight metal custom fabricated airbox to turbo-inlet pipe with NOOOOOOOOO route-back BOV hose BUNG!

and its so damn loud that car alarms start going off whenever i pass them and unpunch the throttle, and people on the sidewalk just stare like with the thought of:

*read in slow motion* IIIII WANNNA SUCKKK UR *******

Ahhhh venting improperly. Get yourself a GM MAF and translator, son. Until then you're just another silly ricer. I vent, but I do it the right way.

Whoa... We are mighty defensive today.

LOL, so many people are brainwashed by these forums and other dsm sites that say specifically "VENTING IS BAD" everytime anyone refers to a bov. Half the ppl who run around preaching that venting is terrible for performance prolly havent even tried it. Its like running for president without fighting in a war LOL =\.

I'll tell u one thing though the only thing wrong with venting with stock bov is it leaks at idle which screws it up and makes it pulse, once u get that fixed or get an aftermarket one its all good in the hood, that "running rich whenever u shift" is advice spread from a couple people who had cars that didnt like being vented from whatever mods they put on their car, u can say that i dont know what i'm talking about cause i dont have a logger and just because it "feels" like it doesnt make a difference doesnt mean it does.

But i did numerous track tests with my other hks bov, i re-routed it and drove my car a certain way, vented it and drove the exact same way and not one damn thing was different. If the running rich assumtion is true it would only be true with the stock BOV cause it LEAKS AT IDLE, which means when u let off the gas its doing exactly what it does when ur sitting in ur driveway, aftermarket bovs are just a lot better

Do you know how the GM MAFT works when in blowthrough? The MAF is after the bov. When you vent your bov with the stock MAF, your venting metered air. This is what causes it run rich. It isn't a myth or an assumption, it is real. If you deny that, then you have some problems. Granted, some people might not *feel* the effects as bad as other people, but it doesn't matter. Your letting metered air out of the system.

If you read.....NOBODY said ANYTHING about venting until you brought it up. He just rolled his eyes at your silly comment (which i didn't know if you are serious or not) and you did the whole drama queen thing and made a big deal out out of a simple > < .So if this site brainwashes people then maybe you need to distance yourself from it. Glad you did your little test but i also did one of my own because i was trying to find any way possible to run my RFL with out proper support and my little test forced me to recirc. my greddy because it ran much better and smoother recirc. So for being a 7 day old(unless you can provide your acheivements and merits) you may want to do a little more research before you do your drama queen thing.

yes yes i've only heard that 12x6 times now, i've actually heard that 72 times.

Ur letting out metered air yes, but by letting off the gas the ecu compensates for that and resumes idle. So if u do run rich its for about .1 second and its "IN BETWEEN" shifts not ur new gear ur shifting into.

and that .1 seconds of running rich like thats even a terrible thing is well worth driving by ricers who think theyre hard while boosting 17 psi and just drop the throttle making them swallow their tongues and clench their light up stearing wheel

used GM MAF at a junk yard - $30 max
new translator - $200
cut your hard uicp that you have already - free

That's $230. Definitely worth the money since you will be able to tune.

GM MAF (or MAS) = General Motors Mass Airflow Sensor. List of cars they are found on here.

Translator is made by Ramchargers. It allows our ecu, which normally reads karmen (sp?) vortex off our MAFS, to read the gm hotwire I believe it's called in the GM MAF. Also allows idle, low, mid, and wot tuning. Buy it here.

whoa that setup right there replaces my 1g stock MAS? so u can just take out that big ass ugly thing inside the air canister and have a straight flow intake pipe?

u gotta gimme some pics on where u put the new sensor and how u did it.
