hey people i was wondering about how much HP i have gained ....i have a N/T 96 talon stock is about 140hp right ..... i have put an short ram air intake, high flow header, downpipe, high flow cat, and apexi N1 cat back??? im thinking all that gave me 20 more hp??? so im thinking bout 160hp??? maybe more?

<---- that time was with catback only with exhaust leak at cat

He probably had something wrong or drove shitty. My friend has one and it eats up any N/T mits. I would say maybe 20hp to the fly but not the ground. My friend has a WRX with a full exhaust, typhoon intake and the turboxs EMS. Stock he dynoed 185whp and after the tune he had 225whp. So I dont think you would get quite 20whp out of a N/T

No, its definitly not any more than 20. But this is all bench racing so it doesnt really matter anyway.

well another reason you couldve beaten the civic is even if you had less or the same hp, hondas generally dont have very much torque ... You probably had him by torque and possibly better driving ( supposing he was a 5speed ) and when I had a n/t I had everything you said you have and i was guessing 160 myself but I soon learned its not worth moddying an n/t dsm when they make turbo ones that will always be faster.

wow that warning is crap

you probably got it for bench racing? But anyways just take your car to the dyno and find out thats the only way to know, i mean yea your cars rated 140 stock, but thats with a perfectly good engine, you say yours is a 96, so therefore thats about 10 or more yrs old so its not goin 2 have stock hp because of worn parts.

the best way to tell is g-tech, it seems to be right on for me :) oh and the civic, Im sure theres a weight difference there aswell.

Actually, it is possible that older engines can have a little more umph!, due to built up carbon deposits raising overall compreshion a tad.

Well, the best way would actually be a dyno. The g-tech is a nice novelty, but it is not very accurate.

umm. not likely you may be right about that in some degree, but most carbon deposits restrict flow and clog up other things... And a older engine could have worse compression for various reasons as blow by from weak piston rings, old and tired engine parts, old ecu etc...
But yea your point is still valid because I have seen dynos of cars 5 to 10 years old that were extremely well kept up making more power than they did stock.

I guess i should have put a disclaimer before I typed that. *May not apply to all cars* I am sorry:| But it should be a given anyway, since all cars are different.

I based what I said on the condition of his car, which is very good.

power increases in an engine with some miles on it, are more related to the worn bearings in the engine making it easyer to spin.

UMM, thats a big negative there buddy.ROFL

If this were the case, people would install pre-worn bearings.ROFL

You'll also be faster if you leave your parking brake on just a tad.

No, don't think about it, just believe me. It's totally true.

You might try turning your wipers on, supposedly the wipers push the wind away from the car and reduce wind resistance.:thumb:
