7cm Turbine housing

I would not drop $200 on that piece. Search more (yellow tab at top of page).

It makes small difference. I would definitely invest $200 elsewhere. Unless you are after records or just want to max the 14b ONLY.

That's actually the Taiwan-made Evo III turbine housing which came on the Evo III "GT" turbos sold by GT Concepts a while ago. Better fitment than the Chinese turbine housing, but it's not a high-nickel casting like the MHI housing and it will crack.

Though its not relivant to your question, that 200 can be better spent elsewhere. The 7cm does wake the 14b up a lot but not 200 dollars worth of performance. You can get a used evo316g for 100 more and thats a whole new animal.

That's the housing that comes in the chinese 16G turbos. It's a good housing as long as you don't receive a blem. And there seems to be alot of blems floating around and being passed off as non-blemished.

Yeah saw and read that thread with a few others. Just was curious about this specific housing

I agree with you 100% just dont want to invest in another used turbo. I have this 14b love it over my T-25 not looking to set records but just want to have it rebuild and get a new turbine housing. I agree its an overkill for this turbo but plan on keeping it for awhile in now rush to go bigger.

Justin, how can you tell the difference between the chinese and taiwanese housings?

Any suggestions where to get OEM housings? I know that force performance and turbochargers.com sell them.

Type/quality of casting, actuator lever, flapper type, etc. Despite being sold by Kinugawa/Kamak which is sourced from Taiwan, this one actually copies the MHI part number and "070" MHI size notation where the Chinese housings just say ".70 a/r" which is completely wrong seeing as Mitsubishi measures all of their housings in Metric cm2 instead of the American a/r.

I've seen a bunch of different housings over the years.

Any MHI dealer; the part number is 49178-13700 I believe; some will drop the 491 off of the first part of the number and just use the 78-13700.

I had one of those housing off of ebay. Ran it on an 18G for about a year. It blew the flapper assembly out of the housing after about a month. I had the flapper cut off for an external if that had anything to do with it.

For the same price you should be able to get one of those old school bullseye steel housings that are supposed to be like 8cm. That is if you could find one. I'd sell you mine, but I wont be home for a while.

Post #2.I have to edit the article again with worse news about it.

But 200$ for this is crazy. The ebay ones like in the article are fine if you get a good one.But how many of us in the article got a junk one.

You could just port your 14b housing to 7cm.
You can't port a housing in to the next volute size. If what you're claiming were true, you should be able to port your 4G63 into a V6. Ever try porting a 5 gallon bucket to hold 7 gallons? I think you see what I'm getting at.

Opening the top of the flange does nothing but ruin velocity when the physical size of the area around the radius of the wheel cannot be changed.

Not trying to thread jack, but.....

From your description of an OEM housing, I take it that the supposed last OEM housing available from turbochargers.com that I bought about a month ago is a knockoff.

Wow- yeah, you got hosed on that one. That's one of the terrible blems from eBay....look how off-centered the bolt holes are on the o2 housing flange. I'd bi*** if I were you unless it's already on the car- if so, there's nothing you can do.

Yes, that is a knock off.
To the OP a customer of mine bought one from the authenitic boosting company. which is the seller of the Kinugawa parts. The housing had some air pockets in the top of the casting but once i ported them out it was a pretty good casting. The housings from the Chinese 16gs didnt have air pockets like the one kinugawa housing had.

The housing has not been installed yet, nor did I check the bolt holes, since I was under the assumption that I was receiving an OEM piece. Figures, I specifically told the sales rep that I did not want to buy a knockoff. Looks like they sold me a way overpriced paper weight.

*EDIT* Just got of the phone with turbochargers.com, fortunately, Ralph said he will resolve the issue.

I hope by *resolve* he means sending you the housing you originally paid for along with a call tag to send this piece of shit back. You can't even bolt that to your car with the bolt holes and flanges so misaligned.

The housing I have is being sent back, and he said that he will see if he can get me what I paid for, or refund my money.

I gave him the part number you listed, and he said that it is not the right number. At this point, I'm more inclined to believe you.

I don't want to get a knock off but I definitely don't want to pay what they are charging now on eBay for the knockoffs Authentic boosting Company is selling them for way too much if I ever buy a knock off I want to get an insane deal at least under $100.

Or you wait to find An mhi Evo 3 16g for $200 near new, with very little use. Lol I got lucky I guess. I'd just port the 14b for now, until you can snatch up a nice 16g for the right price.

I find it hard to believe that a Mitsubishi turbocharger dealer is having a difficult time with a number that is cast into literally every Evo III 16G turbine housing that is produced. :hmm:

Yeah, I don't know what's up with that either, and it was definitely not reassuring to hear from him.

I figured they were "good people" to do business with considering you had linked to them as a Mitsubishi turbo dealer.

Ralph wasn't the one who sold it to me, Dave did. When Ralph asked what I wanted to do, and I told him, "Refund my money because I don't want to do business with them if they call that housing they sent OEM.

Ralph got pretty defensive after that, and said something about Dave perhaps not knowing what he sold/pulled for shipment. He also kept saying OE, which to me seems to suggest that they have an alternate supplier other than Mitsubishi.

I'll be interested in seeing what they send you next- if it's actually a high-nickel Mitsu housing, or one of the Kinugawa ones linked in the first post like they used to sell on their GT Concepts Evo III's.

I figured they were good people as well seeing as they led the initial charge into the entire FP Green / Red movement with their Texas Rebuild Frankenstein 20G's, all of which were made entirely from Genuine MHI turbos and Garrett compressor wheels.
