I know this has been talked about before but i was wanting to get some thoughts about this. There is so much talk about this i'm im not sure what to do. Here is my deal my block is rusted BAD machine shop can't even get the pistons out. The bearing where spun trashed the crank and the rods. Total loss.

I can get a 6Bolt NT for free. Or i can pay a few hundred for a Turbo 6bolt.. What i need to know is can i depend on the NT? It will see some daily driving and a few road trips. But mostly my weekend car. I will be using forged pistons Stock bog rods.

My NT block lasted about 2 yrs and 60K miles with wisecos/eagles. When I did take it apart, all four pistons had cracked sideskirts, and it din't happen under a hard run or anything. Just gradually, overtime. (although I can't vouch that lack of oil jets promoted the problem). Lack of oil jets is pretty much only difference in casting, and forged pistons pobably survive wuthout them longer then cast. Some folks even claim that forged pistons need to expand to work, and eliminate oil jets on purpose (although I would never do that to my engine). So to summarize, yes you will be able to build an NT block, but durability and power handling MAY suffer in the long run, depending on haw far you're planning to push the engine.

Well i plan (for now) Just using the 14b So it's not going to be some dyno queen or anything.. Hoping to pull high 11's low 12's

What i was really thinking about doing is. Building the NT block just to get it back on the road. And picking up a turbo block later and building the crap out of it.. When the NT blows. You know have a spair ready to rock. I would like to have at least 60k out of this build though..

Hell no not here.. I am the only DSM guy here that even knows about them.. The rest just vent there stock 2G bov's thinking there cool and shoot smoke every where :notgood: GSXtacy is the only one near me that knows his shit.. Would you be willing to sell one? How much? I would not mind getting a few of these so i have some for next time. Please let me know!
