I know stock 6bolt pistons and rods are good for 500whp. What about the big rods with topline pistons bored .40 over. I'm running basically a fp green setup at 30psi on e85. Would these pistons hold up like the oem ones. I plan on making 450-500 whp.

IMO you shouldn't use the Topline pistons. If you are trying to make 450-500 then just shell out for some Wiseco, Mahle, JE, etc and know that it'll hold. To top it off for the extra insurance why not get some affordable Eagle rods as well?

NO they will not EVER hold. I had 92 GSX. I blew them at 357 whp.

It's not the pistons fault you had a crappy tune or another issue.

Nope. I was tuned at a shop (Extreme Auto). And Took to a Mustang Dyno. Thats where the piston blew. It came apart from the rod & wrist pin. Before yall blame me for the problems. Extreme bulit the engine I just took the car to the shop. The whole month I drove it the wide band never went Lean, and pocket logger never showed the problems. Idk what went wrong.

Well I'm getting the entire shortblock for 250 and I'm building another 6bolt for next season. I jus wanna know if there as strong as the oem pistons?

This is very good information as I was just inquiring about the Topline pistons. The OP has the same exact goals as I do except that I will have the FP 3052 on E85. In reference to your stated "other options", I have seen, as of tonight, that on the MAPerformance portal, the Mahle pistons are selling for $430. Maybe these would give more of a ceiling than originally stated by the OP of wanting to achieve 450-500whp...?

I have some evo 6 pistons if your interested. Still in the mitsu box. Shoot me a pm if your interested. If not just do wha i did.....look around and be patient, i purchased bnib arias pistons and eagle rods for 500 bucks on craigslist. I almost felt bad for taking them LOL.

NPR Is OEM

OP I would only recommend OEM or Evo Pistons if your on a budget... .
I cracked a Ring land Years ago on a set of Top line pistons (WASN'T THE TUNE) It had a casting flaw you could see air pockets... .I replaced them with a set of NPR ones and have been running 25-30 psi on them for over 3 years now trouble free.

DSM Graveyard is selling brand new complete set of EVO9 pistons for $390. They regularly sell for $420. The question begs to be answered is what is the threshold for the EVO9 pistons and why not spend another $40 and buy the Mahle pistons?

Buy Mahle or Ross for $30-$50 more.
