If you cannot afford an Evo 4, you cannot afford this build.

Good Luck with your inheritance and child support.

But just to touch on a couple things from your latest rant:

1.) Inconel Exhaust valves would be heavy as hell, SS with a natrium fill is more than sufficient and would be much easier on the rest of your valve train.
2.) Megan Coilovers.. really?
3.) Why do you think you need a forged crank for at only 600awhp?
4.) Ikeya Formula shifter will cost you more than a running 2G GSX, at least around here.

Thats just a few of many, and I wouldn't call you reckless or ambitious so much as naive and under-researched.

You need to start with more modest goals and work your way up.

Many things in this game cannot be bought or taught.. they come with time, experience, frustration and hard work.

Add the TRE MaxLock rear differential and TRE shot peened transfer to your list.

If you're getting a crate get a 6 bolt and go with stock 1G intake manifold and 60mm TB. The 1G manifolds are good for over 600hp and it will mate up perfectly to 2.5" IC piping.

I'm roughly $18,000 deep into my car and that's just engine and drivetrain.

... and a mother that has to pay child support to me till I'm 23. ?

I hope you are joking about this in the fact you are going to use money that is meant for the child and you are going to waste it on a car that doesn't benefit the child's health or wellbeing at all.

Since this is for a road course remember this...

"Its better to drive a slow car fast, than a fast car slow"

600 for a road course is almost over kill

If you look at a lot of cars that a build by the average guy they are N/A and focus more on handling than dyno number

I hope you are joking about this in the fact you are going to use money that is meant for the child and you are going to waste it on a car that doesn't benefit the child's health or wellbeing at all.

Im am gonna have to second this one.

But like stated above, 600 whp for a road course car is a little much and would be kind of scary to accelerate around corners. Im almost to 600 and lets just say corners you want to stay off the gas.

Well thanks for all of your oh so helpful advice guys
I don't care much about money, I got inheritance and a mother that has to pay child support to me till I'm 23. So I'm golden. As for what you think I should do, I don't care. It's my car and I'll make it what I want. And if I could afford an evo, I'd get an Evo 4. My father's 8 is such a can that I don't even want to bring back those memories. So yes, my target is still 600. And if you read this a little further and think about it, maybe you could see my dream. Ya it's ambitious, but what can I say, I'm called reckless for a reason.
Crate Motor, 2.3, forged internals from crank to pistons. Fully built and ported head with iconel exhaust valves, ss intake. FMIC, sheet metal intake manifold, 70mm tb, gt35 turbo blah blah blah. But i want this car to handle too, right?
Megan coils, prothane bushings, RM sway bars, RRE strut and lower tie bars, RRE control arms (if i can find a pair), cage, seats, gutted. I'm keeping the stock body except for some blacked out lights, it's getting DSS level 2 front and rear axles and an aluminium drive shaft. Sheptrans, ikeya formula etc etc
Now, I'm asking all of you, please stop pissing in my corn flakes. Yes this car means enough to me to do all this, ya maybe in about 10 years it will get replaced. But for now, It's mine and I do what I want, not trashing on any of your cars, I admire them. How you build your car shows who you are. Thank you. :shhh:

And i just wanna say thanks to this man, he at least doesn't judge me. God what are you all trying to be, my father? Sorry if I'm raging.

does this come off as ""im going to blow my inheritance and child support on my car"" to anyone other than me?

why is your mom paying you child support? is your mother also the mother of your child? i thought child support was one parent paying the other to support the child they had together?

i can already see where this is going and its going to go as follows

1. stupid kid spends all his money on a build
2. kid ends up wil either very poor results or blows up car due to lack of research and understanding of what is going on as well as impatience and ""RECKLESSNESS""
3. kid comes back to forums complaining of problems.
4. forum responds with "search" and "we already told you so several months ago"
5. kid wishes he spent his money on something better or holds it value better. like a house, or a reliable and good car to start with.

yes we are trying to be your father. we have all seen enough people in your situation to see more than plainly that you are not ready for what your attempting, or even thinking of attempting. your situation almost always leads to a blow car or empty pockets and by the time your realize this it will be far past the point anyone here can help you.

go build a 16g car. they are fast, fairly cheap, and easy to build. once you have that running well then come back and ask about 600+ hp

I hope you are joking about this in the fact you are going to use money that is meant for the child and you are going to waste it on a car that doesn't benefit the child's health or wellbeing at all.

I think he means that HIS mother gives HIM child support

Scott, it sounds like the OP is the recipient of the child support, and not one of their children. Not sure why their mom would be paying them child support for their child... But I could be wrong.

Beat me to it haha

I'm at 445 according to DSMlink, and i would agree with you when your at that high of power you gotta worry about alot more then going fast, actually going fast is sort of the easy part with a large turbo. Cornering is scary with a large turbo because the power band can kick in and spin you out (Why do you think a lot of road racers are using evo3 16g's and 20g's?) Gotta be careful AND gotta worry about stopping too. Big brakes aren't cheap, throw another 2k away for front stop techs alone!

does this come off as ""im going to blow my inheritance and child support on my car"" to anyone other than me?

Sadly yes, but maybe his late relative (if that's the case) will live on through this dsm:cool:

Have you been around the track before OP?

Focus on Fundamentals and handling before you worry about this

I'm at 445 according to DSMlink,

How accurate is the Dsmlink estimator? iv seen mine say over 1200hp  haha

I had mine estimate my car at 480 when my car dyno'd at 481. It was the same pull that was recorded on the dyno and in a log. But yes I have had them say over 1,000 for a split second.

It's only when there is a sudden torque change such as down shifting or releasing the clutch slowly i dunno its sensitive sometimes, but only accurate during a pull. Obviously your not gonna be at a 1,000HP idle or decell....
If its showing 1000HP at full boost then you have a hell of a car.

I don't care much about money, I got inheritance and a mother that has to pay child support to me till I'm 23.

Young man, you are making a very poor choice. You plan to spend money that was gifted to you to ensure a better future on a toy. Moreover, someone on the other side of the table is giving their money to your mother for you to eat, or go to school and you decide to spend it on a car. This is why we need estate and civil tax reform. Shame on you.

What everyone is saying is don't make the same mistakes the rest of the DSM children have already made 100 times before. This forum is full of knowledge and your question has already been answered ad nauseum. Complete all maintenance items. Intake, exhaust, tuning device, fuel and boost control, brakes and suspension, more tuning. Come back when you've made 300 hp then ask about making 600.

Why is this thread still open?

You start off asking about cheap and then get into talking about a $30k+ buildout.. I think you really need to re-evaluate your goals, budget and platform.
I just can't take this seriously, sorry.

I don't care much about money, I got (an) inheritance and a mother that has to pay child support to me till I'm 23. So I'm golden.
As for what you think I should do, I don't care. It's my car. And if I could afford an evo, I'd get an Evo 4.
God what are you all trying to be, my father?

Young man, what happens when you become 24 years old, and you have spent your inheritance on a depreciated dream car?

If you do not care what others think you should do, then why did you post the inquiry?

It is your life, but investing your inheritance, and seeking a path to a lucrative career would be more suitable to affording the payments towards a dream car. You should be researching the benefits of compounded interest over time since you are so young with a claimed considerable inheritance. Try looking at your future instead of regretting your impulsive past. This, and much of the previous advice above, is common sense, it is not us being your loathed father.

Kid, save yourself the trouble. If you want to start with a cheap car for track days and dump a ton of money into it, at least start with a car that has track ready hardware readily available. It will never be cheap with anyhting, but it is a lot easier to make a 600hp track car out of a 944t, fox mustang, or early rx7, or something similar. These are cheap cars that actually have a racing pedigree, can be very powerful, and have widepsread availability of "real" parts. You will have to make just about everything for an eclipse. Very few of the commercially available parts for these cars are ready for anyhting besides casual track use and autocross. Hell, a VW bug is a better starting point for a track car than a dsm in reality.

I hate to say it, but guys like this are why kids in the "tuner car" community get a bad rep. I'm 18 and a senior in high school, I own 3 DSMs all purchased with my own money. Everything I know about DSMs I've learned from my dad (hes worked on cars since he was 16 and can figure almost anything out), the local DSM wisemen, and my own research here on DSMTuners. I learned REAL fast how expensive this stuff gets. Shoot I spent almost $1000 on just converting my GS-T to a TSi, and that was all cosmetic stuff! My motor is bone stock (except for a 3"exhaust) and I've got plans for about a 300 hp build for it. And my other GS-T I plan to make about 350-400. But that is after I go to college and other stuff. I love my DSMs to death but man, have some more realistic goals, and start out small before you get yourself killed and continue to give us young DSMrs a bad name. That is just my $.02

Are you sure you are 18? These kids could learn a hell of a lot from you.

Props to both you and your parents. :applause:
