No more insurance coverage on track events..

Correct me if I'm wrong, you can still get insurance, it just has to be "specialty" insurance just for that purpose that will likely be through a separate company from your normal everyday insurance?

Correct. This really applies directly to those that are doing HPDE type events (maybe even car clinics and auto-x). I know in Texas we've followed 'race = timed event' rule of thumb, but that looks to be changing across the nation.

On one hand it's one of those things that could be a deal breaker about coming out and learning this aspect of motorsport. On the other, run groups are likely to get smaller.

Yeah it sucks. You should atleast be able to pay extra to do it or something. I autox and I never would've expected my insurance company to cover anything that happens out there though. Sure would be nice if they would!

There is race car insurance out there. It is pricey though. Yeah, I think everyone expects if anything happens at a track to your car its up to you to fix it.

Check out this website:

MotorsportReg.com : Event Insurance

These guys offer HPDE and other track event insurance. The event has to be registered on their site for you to get insurance for it. The event organizer has to contact them and give them information on the HPDE and has to meet certain requirements. Anyways...just wanted to pass on that info.

Nice find!

My car has never had any collision coverage. If you can't afford to wreck it, don't run it. It's a personal responsibility issue, really.

The writing has been on the wall in regards to this subject. Insurance companies are in the business of making money, not paying it out so we can have fun at their expense.
