Hello, I’m currently running new fuel lines in the 99 GST project car, and I’m just wondering what the 5th line is for under the car, I know the 2x smallest line are the rear brakes, and 2 are fuel lines, is the 5th another fuel line?

It goes to the charcoal canister and purge valve. On an OBDII car like a 2G you'll probably get a CEL if you delete the evap system without changing things in the ECU by reflashing or changing settings in ECULink or something similar. There really isn't any point in removing the evap system. It doesn't hurt performance at all and with your fuel tank vented to atmosphere you may end up with a constant fuel smell and/or moisture getting into your tank.

The vapor canister in my 96 is cracked and damaged by the shitty 3inch exhaust and does not trigger a check engine light. However with the sunroof open you definitely smell the fuel vapors.

There will not be a check engine light as long as the purge valve on the firewall is still plugged in. You can deleted the entire system if you want, but be warned the car will stink like fuel vapors. Just leave the sensor on the firewall plugged in

Personally I recommend using the charcoal canister, I don’t like the fuel smell

Thanks for the responses, the car I’m building was running when I bought it and we completely stripped it I don’t remember removing the charcoal canister, do some models have it in the fuel tank?

No. If memory serves on your year its up front drivers side under headlight

I removed mine and I cannot say I smell fuel.

The late 98 and all 99 AWD models had the canister in front behind the bumper. All fwd cars had them at the gas tank

I can but it's intermittent and only during certain temperature scenarios. Usually an air freshener or airing out the car for a little bit does the trick. It's not from the tank either, both my ports are sealed and there are no leaks.. but the line still runs up to the engine bay and isn't capped for reasons of not wanting to build pressure in the tank.

I might DIY my own canister at some point but it's not really a priority with the rest of life going on.

Welp I’m wrong ; yes you can smell gas ⛽
Wow I haven’t driven my car in so long …

Any have a pic of this 5th line ? From engine bay so I can find mine , I’m going to add a aftermarket simple canister to eliminate the smell 👃.
Since I’ve long deleted all the components for all the emissions

Thanks all !!
