I am swapping a 4g63 into my 2004 Crossfire using an adapter from Bill and a TH350 Tranny. I have been posting the build on projectzerog but i thought I may get more answers to questions over here. Will an Evo 8 manifold and turbo fit this rear wheel drive application? I'm not using the coolant pipe that goes from the water pump and behind the turbo because my inlet is up front. I'm not sure if that is the mounting issue or if the block is the interference issue.

Here is another pic, I am going to have the intake manifold modded so that the throttle body is up front too.

Cool project! Keep us up-to-date! :thumb:

Thanks, will do.
For engine control I have a 1G AWD MT ECU, 2G MAF, and 450CC blue tops. The base fuel pressure in the Crossfire regulator is 58psi which I can tap to make it a rising rate regulator. If I did this , I should have a base fuel pressure under manifold vaccuum of ~43.5psi and a max pressure of ~80psi @22psi manifold pressure(sound right?). The oem fuel pump has made over 400whp without any problems. I also have water/methanol injection installed from my previous setup. Does tuning with a SAFC sound plausible and do you think the water/meth injection will be enough to run the timing that the 1G ECU will want to run with the 2G maf signal? I will also be running a large FMIC. What kind of problems do you think I will run into?

Swap out the SAFC and go to DSMlink. You'll also want atleast the evo 560 injectors if you plan on running 22 psi or anything much over wastegate pressure. Personally I'd suggest swapping out to some 1300's and run E85 if it's available, otherwise 880's and meth will give you plenty of room.

pics of the whole car ......sweet project!

what made you do this swap? was it because the actual engine blew or just for the heck of it?

Good then, keep us updated. I love RWD 4G63 projects because eventually I want to do one too..

Haha I sold you an ecu and fuel rail with injectors.

How is the project coming along?

I've gotten a new one now. 2g GST that is getting swapped over to a talon now. Then AWD at some point.

If you end up needing anything else gimme a shout. I have plenty of extra parts in the barn still.

I also have a LM1 wideband that I will log with. DSM link is out of my budget at the moment. I can definitely get larger injectors.

You could get an Evo 8 or 2G Flashable ECU for a LOT less and still have plenty of capability. Or a 1G ECU and Ostrich for that matter..

It's coming along, If you are ever in Huntsville give me a shout. Now that you mention it I do need an alternator.

I have thought about the Evo 8 ECU, I'll have to google the Ostrich:confused:

I really hope you get that thing going soon. I should have the eclipse talon converted soon. Mopar 4g63 FTW LOL .

I want to check it out when you are done, I have a Holset HE351VE turbo that I could trade you for some parts if you are interested.

You would still need an EPROM ecu IIRC for Ostrich/DSMaps.

I would rock the Flashable ECU if I was looking for tunning and didnt want to shell out for DSMLink.

You can get those EVO ecus pretty cheap and make a patch harness. If your lucky you can find a 2g black box ecu on a JY and get it for like 35$ out the door. Everything else is free/opensource software as far as I know.

What kind of trans are you gonna be running?

The only turbo upgrade I will ever see on this car would be an FP 68HTA or a Blouch 20g XT. Both are bolton, dont have to fiddle with manifolds and o-2 housings and what not. I just dont want that headache.

I am running a built TH350 with hardened sprag, shift kit, and 2700 stall(trying to keep it streetable). As you can see I am buiding my own engine harness because the JY cut the harness out when they removed the engine. All I had to work with is plugends. Are you talking about openecu for tuning the 2G ecu? Can you send me some links in a PM?

Awesome project. How hard was it to actually get the motor in the car and mounted up?

I put the short block in by hand, motor and trans mounts are extremely simple, hardest part was tweaking the front of the trans tunnel to fit the tranny.

Run a SAFC with a 2g maf, and evo560's. Thats an old school PROVEN combo that works very very ####ing well.

I hope that alumin strap looking thing on the passanger side isn't your motor mount, it will never last.

For your intake, lots of people just cut the ends off and weld em back on on the opposite ends. You could also get a FRH intake and put the plenum on backwards. You might also look into a waterpump from a Mightymax or D100. Might help that area out too.

Finally, ditch the 350 turbo. Get a 700r4, or a newer variant. Not having OD or a lockup convertor will suck on the street.

/\ /\ /\ /\ /\ That.

This is all very good advice. If this is going to be regularly driven on the street, the TH350 is going to get a little irritating.
