I am swapping a 4g63 into my 2004 Crossfire using an adapter from Bill and a TH350 Tranny. I have been posting the build on projectzerog but i thought I may get more answers to questions over here. Will an Evo 8 manifold and turbo fit this rear wheel drive application? I'm not using the coolant pipe that goes from the water pump and behind the turbo because my inlet is up front. I'm not sure if that is the mounting issue or if the block is the interference issue.

Here is another pic, I am going to have the intake manifold modded so that the throttle body is up front too.

Looks great, I just wonder if you used the wrong engine. If you'd used one of the backward 4Gs it looks like everything's routing would be a lot shorter.

I wonder if you could use the IM from a backwards 4G for a much shorter IC pipe route..

Yeah I agree. An Evo motor likely would have routed a lot easier, but whatever. Still awesome.

This is what I thought. An evo8 intake mani bolts up, doesn't it? There's your "properly" facing throttle body.

It would bolt up if I swapped a 2g head onto it. I don't think an Evo 8 manifold will bolt to a 1G head because of the smaller ports and the injector bungs are molded into the intake instead of the head. I could have had the manifold modded to put the throttle body up front. This whole project was a budget build and I decided that a little extra IC piping would be better than the cost of moving the TB. The TB on the original V6 was at the rear of the engine too. I spent just under $3k on this project after selling the OEM stuff. :thumb:

Wouldn't the easier solution been to have bought an aftermarket intake manifold, already setup for the rwd swap? I know magnus makes them and jmfab as well I believe...

After about twenty miles of city driving the hydraulic timing belt tensioner failed. Luckily it didn't jump time. Put another new tensioner on it and so far so good.I'm going to drive it to the exhaust shop tomorrow.
Not running a power steering pump right now. Once I get moved into my new house and shop I am going to make a new alternator/power steering pump bracket.

Nicely done. I was hoping to see this up and running. I'm surprized you didnt have the throttle body flange flipped to the other end. But anyways great work!

Videos please! I have my mind set to do something similar with a 70's or 80's RWD car. I have my heart set on a RWD Toyota Corolla but I will see what comes my way here soon.

I think its been done in a 76-77 Celica GT Liftback which are sexy as all hell.

Congrats on it man! I was over on ProjectZeroG when you first kicked this project off (I was putting together a d50 at the time). Looks good, great job ditching the red loom, and if you ever need a RWD 1g Intake manifold, LMK. Only change is the TB flange is for an Evo/3g/Hyundai 2.4 TB.

Some guy on here/talk/link had a 70's Mitsubishi Colt with a 4g in it... :thumb:

Any more updates on this car? I know im bumping a very old thread but this is one of a kind and I for one am interested in its numbers

i see you built a rwd 4g63. I recently got a 4g63t 7 bolt, I have a 88 dodge ram d50. It has a 2.4L in it. i have been wanting to do this swap since i got the truck. Well now i have the engine. But now i have been told my trans will not bolt up because the 2.4 is a 4g64 wide block and the 4g63t is a narrow block. Very confused i want to use my trans with this block what are my options. i have the parts i have and really dont want to change much.
