nope i have a spyder and its on teh right where the rear wiper switch is on a non spyder i dont have it either

hmm, i ahve NEVER seen any car with that switch (cept on custom jobs)

i think they made it like that, and it turned out they didnt need the slot

I've _heard_, but not yet confirmed, that there was a seat heater button there on Avengers. The housing won't take another hazard nor defroster switch without modification, as the switch holder behind it has one corner molded in closer than the others. It's fairly common to see an alarm LED installed there.

If anyone has that seat heater button, I want it.

Ok on 2g cars to the right of the center air vents there those 3 places for buttons. The top one is the hazards, the middle is the rear defroster, but the bottom space doesn’t have anything and I’ve never seen a 2g with it filled. What’s suppose to go there?

I thought the convertible top button was put in where non-convertible's rear wiper button is. Ok so if you r right what goes in the rear wiper spot? im begining to think mitsubishi wanted to leave us with a spot to put a nitrous button or maybe an intercooler-sprayer button.

Ohhh...you said to the "right" of the vents in the description above...I think you meant "left". I agree, I've never seen the blank space filled there. I do see alot of people put their aftermarket security system's little blinking light there though.

i heard claims about traction control? never seen it tho' i think heeted seats should be there :p

I believe I read somewhere that it is a button to turn on heated seats in a different car that uses the same paneling.

Maybe an Avenger? I know their interior is exactly the same as a 2g's.

Damn RS w/ no options, I have almost all blank buttons LOL. Oh well, more spots for my...... neons strobes and NAWZ J/K I always thought it was for cruise control? wich button is that?

My RS has cruise control. The on/off switch is right under the A pillar. And the settings for it are right under the steering wheel on the right under the windsheild wiper switch

mines setup weird on the left I have my neon switch and my fogs, and then there is what looks like an aftermarket switch for my rear defrost. just doesn't look oem. then over on my other side I have the hazard, and nothing else..

Ah, button, button, who's got the button? The endless quest of DSM owners to find out 1) What that blank's for and 2) How to use it.

I go with the "seat heater switch" theory, but I've gotten a factory parts catalog for the 97-99 FJ Talon-Avenger-Sebring (BIG mother thing, is 8" thick and weighs a ton) and so far haven't found the damned thing.

It's common to put an alarm LED in there, or use a second Hazard switch, for whatever. You need to cut some out of the switch holder, as the bottom corner is truncated. I think it'd be ideal for a secondary exhaust system attached with explosive bolts, the GETTHE####OFFMYASS accessory.

when I went to buy a replacement side rearview mirror the clerk asked me if it was the one equipped with heat defrost or something like that. Meaning the mirror heats itself to vaporize water and fog. Maybe this button was to activate that.

No, the heated mirrors are wired through the rear defroster- there is no separate switch for the mirrors.

Don't we have some Avenger owners lurking around here? Ollie-ollie-oxen-free!

on every 2g eclipse I've seen including mine there are 2 switches on the center console up by the airvents. 1 is for the hazards, and 1 for the window defogger. Then there is what appears to be an opening for where a switch should go ... but there's no switch there, just a plastic piece to fill the opening. I'm wondering what switch comes there? It's not even pictured in the service manuals or anything. They label 1 switch 7, the other one 8, and then they skip to 10 and go to a new part. Wierd....
