3rd Button for RearDefrost/Hazard? [Mystery Button]

I bought a new "Hazard" switch and mounted in there to turn on/off my neon's (when I had them). You have to sand/cut one of the corners down on the switch assembly to get it to slide in and "snap", but it's no big deal. Dremel worked great. Of course, there is more than two or three connections on the back, so you'll need to use a voltmeter to find out which pins are being switched before you hook anything up.

Ya i nixed the third push button and mounted my old neon switch or the left in the lower right corner...it's a very tiny switch and looks clean..alomst liek it belongs. I'll post pics of my complete install which should be in a couple hours. All i hafta do is wire the fogs to the last wire and rechincally there should be light!!!

I used another hazard switch as well. I'll post pictures a little later. It was for my DMBC. Only takes a little shaving to get the switch to fit.

i was wondering what that blank is under the hazzards and rear defrost on the center vents on a 2g. ive never seen one that wasnt a blank.

well 2g's and sebrings use the same(well almost same center console and vent setups. sebrings have heated seats as an option and instead of making two seperate control panels the just use one and put a blank switch in the dsm's and heated seat button in the sebrings. You can actually swap sebring center consoles into our cars and everything fits fine.


Now that I think of it I think they are sebrings I forgot the name of the car and that's what comes to mind. They are convertables that chrysler makes.

That would be my best guess as well. In a 2G there was never anything offered in those spots.

hey, while you're askin about that area, how about the slider thing in the center vents? it doesn't open/close them, but it's the same sort of thing.. it's like blue and black on one side and grey and black on the other.. something to do with AC?

the sliding thing in the center vents allows cool air to come out the center vents while the heater is on. i think it helps prevent fogged windows.

Thread is kinda old but thought I would add that I have also put a hazard switch in that spot. I plan on hooking it up to the starter interrupt for the clutch. Push in button - Start Car - Push it back out.

hey everybody i've done a couple of searches and looked in a couple of manuals didnt see anything. I just want to know what the little red light circled in this pic is for. It will blink every now and then even when the car is off.. it is kind of annoying. thanks in advance..

It is not a factory light. More than likely it is for an aftermarket alarm system or something the previous owner put in.

The LED for my aftermarket alarm is in that location.

Actually the Spyder "drop top" is the button on the right. Would go in the location for the rear window wiper/squirter.

I have no idea as to what the bottom of the 3 would do on the left. My parents have a 99 Seibring, which shares a lot of the same interior peices as the 2G (my 98 anyways), and it is blanked off also.

That is indeed a aftermarket alarm light.

I would agree with it being an alarm led, but do you mean it blinks every now and then when the car is running also? Do you have an alarm? Have you tried arming/disarming and seeing if the led goes on/off?

alright i have seen countless pictures on here and since i have a esi mine sure as heck didnt come with it ,haha i roll my own windows down, theres 3 spaces where buttons are suppost to be going top- hazards then middle- defrost but what button belongs on the bottom? and then another button right of the steering wheel theres a little rectangle by where your right knee is when driving. i was just thinking and was woundering if anyone knew what goes there if anything

I believe its the Drop Top for the Spyders...

[The convertible button goes where the coupe rear window wiper/washer button is.]

One is for the convertable top for the sypders and for the older sebrings. And the other is for heated seats that came in the sebrings. It might be from the avengers too. I know you can swap an avenger center console into an eclipse and many of the dodge guys swap in eclipse center consoles.

Research. A 420A can use water as well as a tubo can.
