i wasn't sure where to ask this since it is a question about a recall so i figured what the hell. Anyways, I have an appointment to get the ball joint recall for my 97 GSX on thursday and i just recently put on Tokico shocks and springs about a week ago, but the creeking was happing way before that. Are they gonna give me crap about "altering" my suspension and possibly not do the recall, or do they do it even if you have aftermarket suspension. thanks!

No.

I had tokico's and eibach pro-kit on my car when they did the recall. They just said since I upgraded my suspension they would not do some ABS clip recall.

ok so i was hearing a kind of knocking/creeking coming from the front suspension. I read that it could be the lower ball joint so i went to the dealer to get it done, and they told me that it had already been done on my car but they lubed it up anyways. Then there was a seperate noise coming from the back suspension like a squeaking when i would go on rough roads or a bump. I just recently got new shocks and springs and went in for the second alignment after the springs settled. Both noises still exsist, and thats all i can focus on when i'm driving my car, and its making me crazy even though they're not that bad. Any advice on what it is/what i should do? thanks alot

anyone else?

my friend got his balljoint recall done and a few hours later he checked and the squeaking sound was still being heard. So what we did was spray wd-40 where the squeaking noise was being heard and that fixed the problem.hope this helps

Is the knocking/creeking happening when you turn your steering wheel, or just over bumps and what not. If it is when you turn the wheel its the ball joint. mine was doing it like a couple of weeks ago. What happens is there is a crack in the housing of the ball joint and it lets water in and then it begins to sqeak and get reaallllyyy weak. All i did was took it to my cusin (hes a mechanic) and he replaced the whole arm with the ball joint on it. I paid less than 100 for all the parts and labor (of course you'll prob get higher cuz he was family and all). I later found out i could have gotten all of it for free since it was a recall i believe. Anyway i dont have the sqeeking anymore so it worked out great. Also i hear alot about dealerships give eclipse owners a hard time when we try to get a recall fixed.

That recall is NOT just for one replacement.

If they are bad, then they need replaced.

My advice would be to take it to another dealer.

If you can't do that, then cut them a little bit, and drive around and put dirt and water and sand in them to make it look they'v been torn for a while.

If they are ripped or out of spec the dealer MUST replace them.

well anyways... i went to the local chyrsler dealer.. he looked up my VIN and said its all up to date on the recalls.. well anyways my transfer case is leaking. so i said well its a recall once its fixed it shouldnt leak so it may havent been fixed (it was done back in like 98-99 i think). and he said sorry you have to pay for us to fix it. im like no thats not how it works... you have to fix it no matter what if its a recall. so then he goes ok let me go talk to my manager... so he came back and said no that amount of time sinced it was fixed its at the end of its life and should be replaced. then he asks me if i want to schedule an apointment for them to fix it and im like no ill be coming back and im not paying a penny for it. he was just kinda like whatever..

so i went and talked to a few people about it.. they said the same thing to me that i thought that they HAVE to replace it if its leaking or fix it or whatever.

now what actions should i take with this ?? should i go to a mitsu dealer or wont they touch it because its an eagle talon ? or should i call somebody or what ?

I took my Talon to the local Mitsu dealer about a year ago for service and before I left they offered to check it for the recall without me mentioning it. I've also called some Mitsu dealers to check on parts prices and had them argue with me that a Talon isn't a rebadged Eclipse, and had some pretty much hang up on me. My point is some Mitsu dealers are cool, and some are dicks.

Just call some other Mitsu or Chrysler dealers. Maybe Chrysler doesn't have you in their computers for the recall, and maybe some of your local Mitsu dealers would like your repeat business.

:dsm: :talon:

no i was in the computer it said i was up to date he showed me the screen.. was some cam recall to they did. he just said it was already done and its at its point where i have to pay for it to get fixed when it should be on the recall..

Safety recalls are for the life of the car, not just once. Call Chrysler, your Better Business Bureau, and a lawyer friend if you have one. As well say you are noting the denial, and if the xfer case locks up and you get harmed or killed, your family has been instructed to sue.

yeah i was talking to the guy that did the clutch change for me luke he owns beyond redline.. he said to call the highway saftey or something like that was longer then that but forgot what it was.

ill go back to talk with them though again i think ill ask for the manager this time.

go up there and talk to some one again, and if they say they want you to pay for it, or refuse service, tell them you will be back with a Lawyer for trying to make you pay for or refuse service for a Saftey Recall because it is ILLEGAL.

On the rear lower control arms? My ball joints are shot. I called Mitsu to try to get a new pair, but I was told that I had to purchase the lower control arms also, which were $235.00 a peice. I know there was a recall for the fronts, but I'm not sure about the rear. What can I do in the meanwhile to provide some kind of cushion?
