ok i have 95 gsx. motor was rebuilt 15k ago with oem replacment parts and put to stock. Since then i have put hard pips, fmic, t3 63mm turbo, apexi full exhaust, cold air, 38mm ext wg, greddy bov (recirculated of course) and oil pressure, innovate WB, and boost gauge of course.. well when i did all of this i was stupid and only put water in the cooling system (it was summer and i spaced it.. give me a bread) needless to say it froze over this past winter, and blew either a head gasket of cracked the head. still runs fine, just has alot of oil getting into the cooling system.

Since then i have aqquired a new block with scat rods, weisco pistons, arp head studs, ecm link full version, 1000cc pte, and two more heads for worst case scenario.. my goal is around 450 wheel tuned on e85. I will list the parts i am still in the process of purchasing below to reach that goal
-255 fuel pump
-balance shaft delete (already bought)
-water pump
-full gasket kit of course
-gates racing timing belt
-head gasket
and im sure im missing some stuff.

i cant afford to build the head at the moment, so its staying stock.

i can get everything else but i realllllly need help on choosing a head gasket. so ANY suggestions would be great. the local DSM FB page just turns into arguments so dsmtuners is my next option LOL.

Feel free to speak your mind on your honest opinions about anything youd like, ive put together a few, but never went for this kind of power. and another thing i am running open dump out the driver side of the bumper.

thats it for now, gotta leave work. once again i do consider myself to still be a newbie, so anything goes.. GO

Thank you in advance.

Grab a felpro one or even oem close to the same price, felpro have been know to hold some power grab some arps and your good to go.

With a good set of ARPs and a Composite Head Gasket you can deliver quite a bit of power through the engine with the head gasket sealing perfectly. Many people have made outstanding numbers on composite gaskets. Composite gaskets are also a bit more forgiving on uneven surfaces so you won't have to worry as much with getting the head and block levels absolutely perfectly when they are cleaned/surfaced.

Where would you like this 'bread' sent to?

705 S Bloomington St in Greencastle IN. Hahaha. That's funny. Lol

Anyone know if you can get an oe Mls, or a GOOD fellpro at like a local auto parts store? Or any suggestions of company's to get in touch with. Because a "high horsepower cometic head gasket" off of eBay, just sounds like a blown engine already LOL.

It's whatever the stock bore is. I'm too tired to remember or anything. If you are still running a stock bottom end, then thats what you want. I beat on mine with 25-27psi daily for about 2 months now, and at one point, it saw 36psi. No problems, no oil in the coolant and link is estimating it to be about 440hp at 6500rpm.

Don't bother with a composite head gasket. When it blows, the car is likely to be dead on the spot. A MLS is like to get you home if you lift a head.

Don't try to use the composite head gasket as a fuse like some folks. I have seen the piston crack along with the blown composite gasket.

Make sure you get the right size head gasket to match your combustion chamber. The factory composite is one size fits all(2.0l-2.4l). Cometic is the only brand that I know that sell the head gasket in different thickness and bore size. The head can have a lot of casting shift in the combustion chamber. If you order one that has the incorrect bore size, you will have sealing and overhanging issue. The safest bet is to get a 86.5-87mm bore head gasket. Measure the piston dwell for head to piston clearance before getting a head gasket. If you have quench pad pistons from JE or Magnus, msje sure you select the right thickness to maximize your quench function.

I am impartial to Cometic since they works for me and the engines I built for my friend.

The new stop head gasket from Brian Crower seem to be good too for the price but I never use them to give a strong recommendation.

Make sure your machine shop has a Cbn/Pcd cutting head got decking the block and head. The finest finish with this cutter head is done with the feeding table slowed down and set to take .003" or less for the few last cut. Cbn is for cutting the iron block and pcd is for cutting the aluminum head.

If the don't have a Cbn/pcd cutter, you might not be able to use a MLS head gasket.

This head was milled using a Cbn/pcd cutting. See how shiny it is. It was previous milled using some old school milling machine. He never had an issue with the composite head gasket. It might even be okay with a MLS but it was not worth the gamble. Can you see the striation from the old school milling machine. CBn/Pcd cutter costs 15k+++ so a lot of shop won't break down to get one.

Before doing a major job, try flushing the cooling system and replacing the oil to coolant sandwich plate on the oil filter housing.

Could a new oil filter housing possibly fix this issue? Could it have frozen and cracked something in it? To get oil in coolant but no coolant in oil? It kinda makes since, meaning oil pressure is higher than your cooling system pressure. Has this happened to anyone else? Sorry for all the questions LOL

I had my block decked as well when i decided to go cometic MLS. 4k miles 30+psi and no monkey business.
Next time i tear down i will probably get a composite if im not touching the bottom end. But if i do, its only a little extra to get it done so why not? Atleast at my local machine shop it wasnt too expensive, dont know about others. They differ in price quite a bit.

the head to get resurfaced was only like 40 bucks, the block i think was double that. cant remember exactly.

did get my quote earlier for everything, decked block, honed cylinders, balanced rotating assembly, complete blue print, polished crank, pressure test head, do a valve job on head, deck the head, and assemble the rotating assembly with new cevite bearings for $1000 +-

will someone please point me in the direction to a balance shaft delete section LOL. i need to figure out how to do it, but cant seem to find a specific article related to that.

as well as an abs delete section, and cruise control delete LOL. if someones sitting around playing on the forums bored haha
