2G 2.4 block 4g64 DOHC head swap?

can i take 4g64 2.4 block and put new pistons and stuff in it and slap my 7bolt head on and drop it back in my gsx? any possibilities or what works with what?

i dont want to send the block to the machine shop at all, i found another dealer that found a warehouse with a brand new blank block. and since im gonna be ordering it with the shop account i can get the price better and not pay 700 bucks for the factory crank either. the sad thing was i had a 94 galant with the 2.4 that a customer left. it was smoking a lot of blue but i coulda used the block. i never though of though. though i know which junkyard its at since i go there all the time. still want a block with low miles or a new one

You still have to get the block magnafluxed to make sure it's not cracked, have the extra drain holes plugged and the block decked at the very least at a machine shop unless you just have the resources to do it yourself... or just don't care.. And you can't find a block out of an old hyundai or mitsubishi for almost nothing?? You're not looking hard enough. I only paid $50 for the whole engine and sold the rest of the parts for a profit. There are too many cars that used the 4g64 to not find a cheap one. Even the 3g Eclipses have them.

so Im curious to know what vehicles have 2.4 blocks that our DSM's can use so I can shop for a block as well since mine is toast.

so i can just throw in 4g63 pistons and rods? no difference at all? pistons arent bigger or anything in the 2.4? question sounds dumb though

i believe that a 4g63 bored .060 over is the same bore as 4g64. Not sure if you used 4g63 .060 pistons on 4g64 block with 4g63 head if it would work correct though.

You use 4g64 pistons that are designed to work with the 4g63 head on it. And why is it that no one can manage to search? All of this information is in other threads. All of the questions that have been asked are answered in the other 100 plus threads about this....

thast okay, wont hurt to have a nice new open thread. anyways should i use the crank that will come with the block or replace it? what type of connecting rods? do they make shorter or longer ones for our dsms?

I second that statement. I managed to do it, so you shouldn't have any problems either. To be honest, it's actually a lot quicker than posting a question and waiting for someone to answer...
