can i take 4g64 2.4 block and put new pistons and stuff in it and slap my 7bolt head on and drop it back in my gsx? any possibilities or what works with what?

Yes the 4g63 head will work on 4g64 but it isnt as simple as just "slapping" it on. Im not sure, but i believe there are some drilling needed for coolant passages. There are many threads on this as to what needs to be done as far as cooling, timing, etc. Use the search but yes it can be done
Also i dont believe the stock 4g64 shortblock has adequate pistons, rods for high boost. You will most likely need to upgrade those parts for serious power but you said you were doing it though

yea if i get a 2.4l block im gonan get new pistons and everythign and rebuilt it here at the shop so it can handle it, does it bolt perfectly onto the auto tranny bell housing though

which 4g64 block do i need? also 7 bolt head bolts to it or 6 bolt head? any holes on the block taht need to be filled?

I have an idea. Search. All of the questions you have. Will be answered in other threads regarding this. And yes all of the information is there. I used it to do the swap :p. Also yes you can use the 7bolt 4g63 head. It also depends if you go with a 6bolt or a 7 bolt 2.4. And also yes the tranny bolts right up.

called the dealer to get an empty block but discontinued

look at your local junkyards. Ebay.... Sometimes in the classifieds here also. Picked mine up for 350 shipped with the crank :)

I had a whole 2.4 motor for sale a few months back on here. I was going to use it for my holset build but for the right price I'll be willing to sell it. PM me if interested. Also yes the DOHC fits on, a few holes need to be plugged though. Info here:raycer97's 4G64 Performance
Also 4g63 parts work in it like pistons, rods, etc (6 bolt and 7 bolt specific) unless you want to get stroker pistons and rods which are alittle more expensive.

slowboyracing sells 2.4 wiseco parts and etc. so i was gonan get the 2.4 block and put stronger pistons and a new crank in it and then put a built 7 bolt head and put the rest of my stuff on it and drop it in

Why a new crank? What are you looking to get out of say an eagles crank besides a lighter wallet? Also as I stated you can get any pistons and rods to work with the 4g64 crank. Probably cheaper prices also, SBR is a great shop but known to be slightly more pricey. just look around before just hoping on something...as the old timers say haste makes waste

so ill use the original crank? and just get better pistons and rods?

Why not? OEM cranks are used in 1000hp builds, if anything ive seen more people with problems using eagle and other kind of cranks.

I used a 94 galant 2.4. It has a 7 bolt crank and I used Wiseco pistons and Eagle rods. I don't know anything about the other years but the 94 variation came with a girdle connecting all the main bearings, which could prove useful in high horsepower builds. And g_ferg is right. All the info is on here, ### i used it as well.

I used a hyundai sonata block. Its a 6 bolt 2.4 with wiseco pistons and eagle rods. With a 2g head. There are a quite a few vehicles that have a 2.4 that will work.

okay, i know that the some have engine mounts on the front? and you cant use those ones? does it matter if it had a sohc or dohc head?

I dont believe so. Because the spyder's 2.4 was a SOHC and that block works also.

It does not matter if it is single cam or dohc. And if i remember right it was only the 94 galant that came in a dohc 2.4 anyways.

awesome im gonna hunt me down a 2.4 block, what type of pistons and rods etc should i go with to lower the compression etc?

Yes, good idea since the stock internals are not strong enough for a high power turbo setup. Get the block machined, get yourself a good piston rod setup. Its really your choice on the compression you want to go and what kind of power you want to make with your choice of setup. Like I said regular 4g63 rods and pistons work or you can get the stroker rods/pistons that are alittle more expensive but people seem to think they are better. The 2.4 bottom end is def. going to give you more torque and should be quite the street machine. Goodluck

so i can just throw in 4g63 pistons and rods? no difference at all? pistons arent bigger or anything in the 2.4? question sounds dumb though

No, of course you will need different sizes if you decide to bore the block out. But everything works as normal. Just make sure if its a 7 bolt 4g64 crank get 7 bolt 4g63 parts...same goes for 6 bolt.
