To use 4g63 belts on a 4g64 block swap with a 4g63 head.

Get part: T41239 manufactured by Gates

This is a Subaru Idler pulley which is half the size of the Mitsubishi pulley.
NOTE: THE BOLT HOLE will need to be bored out slightly to fit the Mitsubishi bolt in.
This is the EJ engine Pulley that will allow the use of performance 4g63 belts and you won't need to source a 4g64 belt.

I've been using this on my car and have had no problems.

Nice! do you have to use a drill press to bore out the hole, or can you mount in a bench vise and drill with a cord/cordless hand drill?

I see this is just over a year old.
I hope @GIB sees this.
Hey man, how does this work?
Do you use this EJ pulley on a 4G64 block with a 4G63 DOHC head, 4G63 timing belt, and 4G63 cam gears and all the timing marks line up like factory?

Yes, it looks like this. Don't forget to bore out the pulley to fit the Mitsubishi bolt.

OK, so after digging around on the internet, it looks like Gates part # T41239 is probably made in China.

NTN NEP31003B4 is made in Japan and is the exact part equivalent to the Subaru part # 13073AA230 just no dealer mark up.

Hi,

I'm highly interested in swapping my 2G GST with a 2.4 block/2.0 Head, the main issue that I see here is that 2.4 DOHC cams out of a unicorn 94 Galant are impossible to get. Whats the trick to use the 4G63 cam gears? I appreciate all your details.

There is no big difference from the non turbo DOHC 4g63 cams, the stock DOHC 4g64 cams are almost the same as the non turbo 4g63 cams. The only difference is the intake cam that is optimized in 2.4, the exhaust cam is even the same as the non turbo 4g63.

Whats the trick to use the 4G63 cam gears?
Just use the 4g63 cams and 4g63 adjustable cam gears to set the valve timing as 4g64, that would be the easiest way, no need to source the unicorn DOHC 4g64 components.
