awesome craftmanship in the crank vent and fwd facing manifold. Has anyone tried contacting you in fwd facing manifolds for different platforms? Cant wait to see what this car has instore next

Thanks! No one has contacted me, but I would love to do more header builds like this!

decided to convert the cooling system over to AN. I'll put up a finished pics next week. thought this was kind of a neat picture

Got same new goodies for the car. thanks to FIC for helping me out with some 2150's. itll be nice to have a good injector and one large enough to do the job!.

Also got the cooling system converted to AN fittings and hose. Going to start doing some weight reduction stuff and getting the body ready for paint.

where can i find the connections and stuff i need to do the an lines for cooling?

I can supply you with everything you'll need to complete the coolant setup. You'll have to tell me what degree hose ends to get for you.

Congrats :applause:

Thats One great setup!
Iam about use bw s300 91/79 to run 9sec..LOL

Whats weight of car??

Thanks man! Car weight 2850 with me in it.. Im 190

Thought I would take a minute and update this. Last few weeks have been busy at work. We took delivery of our Mustang AWD dyno, and had been generally busy as well. I hadn't run the car at all since swapping the injectors to FIC 2150s. I finally had time to get it on the dyno, and had nothing but problems. The BOV was opening randomly during a pull, never did get it figured out, on the 4th hit it broke a rod. I boost leak tested the system after and found no leaks, I need to pull the BOV to check the diafram yet. The rod breaking really surprised me. They're Eagle H-beams and #2 broke in the center of the beam. My first thought was bearing failure, but the oil wasn't diluted even slightly and my low psi light never came on. I can see the bottom of the rod through the block (still bolted to the crank) and there is no discoloration in the cap. I can also reach in and move the rod freely so it wasn't a bearing failure. I ordered some new 11:1 pistons and aluminum rods, but have decided to use them on another project I'm working on. For now i'm putting the stock combo back in. ARP rod bolts,NPR pistons .040 over. This is the short block I had at shootout when the oil filter came off. Obviously with new rods and what not. When I get the engine out and tore down I'll put up some pics of the connecting rod. At this point were thinking it was some sort of casting flaw in the rod. Tune was very safe yet. .65-.67 lambda and 8.9* timing @ 30 psi. Showed absolutely no knock in the log, but it is methanol, also the plugs looked very safe as well. Car made 400WHP through the Auto trans at only 6K.

356ft/lbs @ 5200
400hp @ 6400

peak torque would be higher a a lower rpm, i rolled into it at 4500. peak power was still climbing at 6400. i'm hoping to have the car running again at the end of next week, maybe sooner depending on how my week looks.

What did the torque look like? I can't believe you broke one with a 16g. I had them in my car and been turning it 9000 for 3 years, and making over 500ftlbs this year. Took it apart and all 4 rods were perfectly round on the big end. Had em magnafluxed and they are still perfect. I'm not gentle wit the tune either. Mine must be good ones.

Torque peak was on the initial spike, leveled out around 340, and fell to 320ish by 6400.

Thanks for compliments guys! gives me motivation to keep pushing this thing for a bit.. still have some tricks up my sleeve :)

getting the new stuff around, got the pistons and rods balanced and hung. Decked the block last night, trying something different with the deck height. We'll see how it goes. Hoping to have it running in a week or so.

Dammit! didn't realize John was logged in and not me..

here are some pics of the broken eagle stuff.

My guess is that the second rod broke from debris off the first one. I was extremely surprized to see 2 holes in the block. I know tons of people have had excellent success with eagle rods (myself included in other applications). After seeing these broke in the center of the beam with both the pin end and and the bearing end of the rod showing no signs of abnormal wear or fatigue I'm sure I'll never buy another set for one of my 4g engines. I've never seen a cross section of these rods before, so its hard for me to blame a machining or casting error.

On another note, I'm taking the day off to finish putting the other short block back in. Should have it up and running by the end of the day.

That's unreal. I've had my set in my car for over 3 year and never under 450whp. Always getting turned 8500+. The motor is apart now, and the are perfect. Had em magnaflux inspected, and checked for straghtness/round/size. All still as good as the day I assembled it.

I was scared of the power I was making, so I did some engineering analysis. Those rods should have a infinite life span at 600ftlbs of torque. Eagle claims they are tempered to 170kpsi ultamite tensile strength and my tests agree with that. Endurance limit of 4340 is about 1/2 tensile strength. At 600ft/lbs your generating about 2200psi cylinder pressure, and that puts about a 70kpsi load on the rods.

Those rods either had a large defect in them, or you had major detonation issues.

Do you have an MSD on the car?

No MSD, Dynatek ignition.. plugs, knock sensor, bearings, showed no signs of detonation. Rod had to have had a flaw.

I don’t know about infinite lifespan, but I agree with the rest of this statement. It’s funny-they used to be rated at 350 ft lbs-but after I made 710/500 on Eagles in 2005-they reached out to me and had a few emails back and forth. Magically the 2006 Catalogue was bumped to 600 ft lbs. you know what changed with the actual rod?

NOTHING.

That does not surprise me. I understand that they are trying to make a budget product for the masses, and this is fine, but that means that the parts get cast/rough machined by the lowest bidder. The consequences from this are what happened here. Not every rod will be perfect, ether from heat treat, forging, or machining. Yes it sux, but sh*t happens. I've been building engines long enough to know that sometimes you get screwed and its no ones fault. On the same note, we have replaced Eagle rods with K1 rods for our builds. I'm not saying that the K1 is a way superior product, they might come from the same place, but it helps me sleep at night.

On another note, I have the engine sitting in the car, but i will not be able to finish it up tonight, but it will be running tomorrow, and baring any huge problems at work, I plan to have it on the rollers again tomorrow night.

got it running and on the dyno last night. I'll take some vids tonight.. pic from last night:
