This is my favorite 16G build ever! Forward-facing 16g FTW!

Thanks for the kind words guys! Car went a 10.72 @ 128, followed by a 10.74 @ 127.33. There still some power on the table in its current form, and i still have a couple tricks up my sleeve that I think will work, but haven't been proven.. Been struggling with trans issues, planning on rebuilding it in the next couple weeks. Changed some suspension stuff this morning trying to get the 60 better, we shall see..

Finally got around to finishing up the new header. still lots to do...

Wow thats flying fast! I was wondering what the reasoning for having the exhaust runners come together in a smaller diameter pipe then increase diameter to the flange? or did it just come out that way?

Dam man, that's good times on a 16g man, great work!!!!

the header was designed that way for scavenging/velocity.. the tube diameter stays the same until the transition to the turbo.

car was decently fast at shootout.. we were still fighting the transmission. ill give you guys a little run down on the day..

Were setting the limiters in the morning and notice the LF balljoint had pushed out of the control arm, and the control arm was deformed were the snap ring sets. got the control arm off and fixed it the best we could. made the first pass with the limiters unhooked, went 10.72@127 with a 1.54 60ft.. my reaction time was .088.

Second pass (against lucas) I looked over to see were he was and didnt shift in time, hit the rev limiter.. the trans issues I've been talking about is that the trans shifts way after i hit the lever and was inconsistent, my fault for glancing over and not running my own race though.

Third pass (first round by run) line lock stays on after i let off the button, went to the pits thinking i had a relay issue, but the line lock itself had actually failed. it would work sometimes, but every now and then it would hang up. We decided to foot-brake from then on which i was not happy with because my reaction times had been good, and were my biggest advantage, i wasnt sure i could cut a light foot breaking the car..

Forth pass (semi-final, got the by, not sure how that worked out but whatever). Foot breaking the car worked OK, but not great had a .200 reaction time and a 1.54 60ft. Around half track the oilfilter must have came loose, blew the oil seal. car spun the tires and went left, i lifted, which made it go left even quicker, plus it was on oil so it was a bit of a handful anyway. crossed the center line and hit the 1/4 mile cones. I didn't get the car shut down in time and hurt something in the engine..

Conclusion: car is going to sit for abit (have another project going that needs to get finished).. but i'm coming up with another engine combo to try, and I'm excited about it. Obviously have to go through the trans as well. Going to pull a bit more weight out of the car also (gut the doors, remove rear bumper, fiber hood). Probably going to do this over the winter, we're going to paint it as well. Even through it wasn't the weekend we had hoped for (obviously) we still had a great time! the car was frustrating, but it was a blast to drive and i cant wait to get it going again.

Decided to put another short together so i could leave the car together until i get room to tear it apart.

Neat shot of the car...kinda:

as of right now, the block is decked, and bored. have to finish hone, balance the pistons and rods, and assemble th short, i'll keep the pics coming.

Wow, what compression ratio are those pistons? 11:1? Higher?

compression will be 11.5:1.

The 10cm^2 housing would probably net some power, but i'll only be making a few passes with the 16g next year. Plan is to try for the 16g record, then put an FP Black on the car to run SAT class at shootout.

I'm seriously impressed with your results, makes me feel better about going with my extreme 16g build. I don't have a bad ass ff manifold however. I'll be following progress. Great stuff, good luck with the 11.5:1 build.

How do you get through tech with this thing? Or do they just not care down there? Impressive for sure, but there are many things I see that would make this not pass.

So, after you make those few passes ; You're going to put a t3 flange on that and sell it to me? ;)

LOL no i'm going to reflange it for the black, But i do manage a performance shop, so i can build you one, or one like it, or whatever you want :)

What do you see that wouldnt pass tech? passed at martin with out issue.. only thing would be a flex plate sheild..

I dont see a safety cage around the cell for one, and another thing is I dont see how that door bar actually intersects between your shoulder and elbow and your knee. Might just be getting lucky with inspectors

The fuel cell cage you are correct about (on the winter list). The rules state that the door bar must pass between the shoulder and elbow. Didnt see anything about my knee.. the car was ran at a test n tune, then at shootout, neither of which were in-depth tech inspections, so yeah, probably got lucky with the fuel cell cage.

Though it is not clearly specified in the rule book, as usual. The door bar is supposed to follow your leg after the knee. Also again its not stated but the door bar is supposed to be below the first bend in the main hoop. They are also supposed to extend as far forward as possible to help protect your lower legs. I know the rule book can be really vague sometimes, but thats why I always call them and have them clear it up over the phone. It has saved me a TON of headaches.

Didn't realize I wasn't subscribed to this! I'm excited to see how far you push the 16g and also interested to see an Evo FP Black on a DSM like this! Perhaps I'll see you over at Martin sometime.

yeah i'm excited for the fp black! i'll be at martin more next year than i have been.. i live about 3 miles from the track, so if your coming up let me know.

Once you build that engine, I want to see you run a 14b on there before the FP Black. LOL

i've thought about that a few times.. we'll see how far into the year it is before i get the bugs worked out.. only take a few min to swap it. be worth a shot

got the crank case vent, and baffle done.. also got everything balanced. Just have to file fit rings, clean everything up nice, and assemble the short, might have the short togather by the end of the week...
