hey I just bought a spare head for my 92 talon am looking for advice on what parts to order to do a rebuild im not looking to make more then 350 hp with this head I just don't know enough to just go and buy parts willy nilly

A good condition head with healthy OEM components will do.
When I refreshed mine, I lapped in new valves and eventually new HLAs. I also had it decked and did the the oil port mod.

I have no clue on the condition of the springs, valves, lifters and rollers. but it didn't come with a cam so I don't know if I should reuse the parts since I've heard not to use them without the old cam

The car also came with a new set of lifters when I got it in photos and there is 2 pics of the head is that help any

Do you have the cam caps? It's very important to have a matching set that goes with that specific head. You can't use donor caps from another head unless you get them line bored, which is usually cost prohibitive for these heads.
Camshafts can be swapped no problem.
Those TopLine HLAs are what I used and seem to be doing just fine. I wouldn't mix different brands, so make sure you have 16 of them.
I forgot to mention replacing valve stem seals, camshaft seals, CAS oring, and rocker cover gasket/half moon.
Edit: also headgasket.

Ok what parts should I use for my rebuild (cams springs ect) as I said I only plan to make 350 with this new one. I have the cam caps, the car is also stock

Bigger turbo, bigger injectors, bigger FP & ECMLink and you can run stock cams/springs for an easy 350hp.

Honestly all stock is fine for that. We on stock refresh motors now days will add the cheap BC single springs just for little more pressure, new seals, check everything over, deck it. That is more then sufficient. The last 10+ years we have ran bone stock heads with 150k+ miles stock springs with drop in hks cam's up to low 30s on boost and mid 400whp without a issue.

Have you tried posting a wanted ad here in the classified section

I'm currently looking for new for longevity I plan on doing a few long road trips in the future (more then 800k one way)

I wanna do the same with a block when I get my hands on one that's not I'm my car rn.

Stock cams? PM me. I can look.

Cams are not really an issue with these cars. You'll be fine with a used set. I have a 91 that I daily drive and also road trip. These cars are extremely reliable as long as they are maintained and not abused.

I believe OEM are discontinued, but if you could find them new you're talking $500 - $1000 per camshaft. Intake - MD335754, Exhaust: MD128973. Might as well go aftermarket at that point.

BTW, I daily drive my DSM and have 200k+ miles on the original set of OEM camshafts with no obvious signs of wear. I've also done road trips at 800 miles round trip. A used camshaft will not catastrophically fail and leave you stranded. You should be more worried about maintenance items like timing/BS belts, serpentine belt, coolant hoses, fluid levels/leaks, battery, alternator, tires, etc. if you're worried about breaking down.

My running engine is at 400k and the ends of the cams are rusty somehow

So about 250k miles? That's not too shabby. :thumb: If that's 400k miles, then hats off to you!
I had some surface rust on the lobes of a used set of camshafts but I sent it anyway. Next teardown I couldn't even tell. So it really depends on how rusty.

No 400km sadly but that car sat for the past 10-12 years so someone drove it a lot on the highway is my guess
