I'm praying this is not a noob question, but if it is, PLEASE let me get an answer before it gets deleted!!!

I have recently come into a decent sum of extra cash and as I am going to be replacing the timing belt, I thought the extra money could go into new cams and a head rebuild. This isn't going to be any sort of crazy port job, just gasket matching, polishing, new valve train, and new cams. Of all of these, it is the cams that worries me. I am planning on FP 2x cams. However, I have no idea how streetable the cams are. I do understand that streetable is a loose term, but in all seriousness, will my car run decently enough for regular use? This is my daily driver, and having it running is necessary. I do also realize that I currently do not have a turbo to really warrant these cams, however I am planning on upgrading that a couple months later, at least a 50 trim, maybe bigger.

Thanks,

I'm running 264/272 cams with my daily driven 50-trim and I think they are completely streetable. I really didn't notice a huge amount of low end difference with the swap, but the upper RPM band has had a significant revamping.

If you are looking to save money, check out FFWDConnection.com; they have direct copies of the HKS 264/272 and 272/272 cams as well as a few other custom grinds. They sell for $350/pair and have a full year warrenty.
