Hey guys, usually I can find an answer to my questions through the search, but I did not have any luck with this issue. I need to replace my body harness ( The one that starts at the fusebox on the passenger side, and runs along the front of the car, and plugs in at the kick panel underneath the dash). I have ran the wiring harness and have my headlights, alternator, etc. all wired in. No problems!!

My problem is I cannot connect the wires that go under the dash!! The problem appears to be that the harness that I have is from a 1992 Automatic with ABS, and I am using it on my 1991 Manual without ABS. & there is a 16 pin connector on my AT harness, and it is a 14 pin connect on my MT harness.

Can someone provide a wiring diagram for the harness so that I can unpin the AT connectors and re-pin using my MT connector?

Also, I am trying to accomplish this so that I can make it to the shootout!!:D

Thanks in advance for your help & expertise!

Here are some photos of what I am up against. The 92 connector is different than what is shown on your photo.

My 92 connector has 16 pins. The one shown has 18 pins.

My 91 is a 14 pin connector.

Also, the black clips are different (notice that the 92 harness has 3 columns of pins on the left side). There are also 7 clips on the 92 harness, my 91 only has 5.

The harness is definitely out of a 1992 Eagle Talon AWD, Automatic Transmission. Can you point out what these are used for??

I was reading a bit further into this today. Are the extra plugs that I have for the ABS? 19Eclipse90 could you provide the AUTO wiring pin-out?

Thanks!

I think this about covers the Auto harness pin-out. If you've had some sort of break-through, please share with us as the information you've provided thus far doesn't correlate to the service manuals, as far as I can tell. As for the possibility of ABS connectors, the pictures don't show what I would think the ABS connectors would be, i.e., one of the connectors is a 20-pin connector.

I believe we are comparing two different set of plugs.... I went out to compare the two harnesses, and the wire colors list on the AUTO pin-out or the 91-94 manual harness posted here, "Dash Harness Talon TSI", are not the same colors. Nor does either harness have pin 1 empty as noted. I know that these are both turbo harnesses.

Again, the harness I am working with is the fuse box harness. It mounts on the passenger side of the engine bay, and plugs into the lighting system, alternator, oil sending lights, and goes inside the driver's front fender and through the firewall into the car. The plugs in question plug into the fuse panel located on the driver's side kick panel, and my 1991 has two plug behind the fuse panel (one for a 6 pin connector, and the other is the 14-pin connector. (I cannot take clear photos with my phone)

Okay, then yes, we are discussing different connectors. That's probably why none of this made much sense to me. LOL For the record, three of the five connectors in your third picture are very similar to some under the passenger side kick panel which is why I immediately thought it was over there. Sorry for the confusion.

Anyway, we are on the same page now. Might be a little bit before I can go through all those connectors on the driver side to figure out what they are all about, though.

Anything that you can do to help is greatly appreciated. In the meantime, I am looking to find another harness for a MANUAL 91-94.... But if we can figure out how to re-pin the connectors I do not have to pull the harness back out of the car, and run another one.. LOL:D..

Alrighty, check to see if these are even remotely close, wire color-wise. Admittedly, the description of the 14-pin connector is lacking, but it's about the best I can do with what I have to look at. This is the comparison between the same plug from the engine compartment harness to the body wiring harness on the driver side.

Unfortunately, these colors are not matching up either. I found a 93 5-speed today, but upon pulling the plugs from under the the dash, it is still the 16-pin connector. So, I am concluding that there is a different harness for the 1ga & 1gb. Also, looking at the two pin-outs that you posted, it appears that I do not only have to re-pin the 16 & 14-pin connectors, but that I need to re-pin the other plugs as well.

Also, my car was built in Jan. 1991.. I believe this is my harness: 1990.06.2-1991.06.2: MB802125
My donor harness was built in Apr. 1992.. I believe its harness is: 1991.06.3-1993.05.3: MB823867

Can you do a pin-out for these harness that I can use to convert the 1992 harness to use my 1991 14-pin connector?

Thanks!

I don't want this to sound "dick-ish" as it is a sincere request, but perhaps you could provide me with the wiring colors in some ordered fashion and then I just have to see if I can hunt them down instead of playing this guessing game that's going nowhere. LOL

Not being "dick-ish" at all... LOL.... I should have thought of that eariler... ROFL..

LOL..... I just compared my colors to your previous post, and they are very close (my colors are sort of faded). I do not know how what I was reading before.

The next issue is re-pining these to work. The pin-out you posted the wires on the 91 control the alarms system, & the 92 does not list these. I have convert my front end to a 92, so I do not need to pop up controls.

The 16-pin connector I just posted up is the exact same for your 16-pin connector, except for pin 4.

The problem with the 14-pin connector pin-out is that I'm going off an electronic copy of the diagrams that isn't complete. Even so, it seems all but coincidental that pins 3, 4 (blue w/ yellow, not green), 5, 6, 8 (w/o black stripe), 9, 11 (blue w/ red stripe?) and possibly pin 7 (the black w/ red my diagram has the pin number omitted for whatever reason) match up. That I didn't find anything for 1, 2, 13, or 14 doesn't necessarily mean they aren't there, and that I have something for 10 (theft alarm) or 12 (daytime running lights were a Canadian thing, if I recall) doesn't mean the harness you have was so equipped.

No offense, but I really think those are what you're looking at. Unfortunately I can't help with what all those wires are for.

.............

Damned ninja edits... LOL

Okay, well at least we are on the same page again. As far as the Security (Theft Alarm) System, I could have sworn ASA told me it was a 1991 item only, now it says 1990 only. I'll have to figure that one back out.

We could tone out the 2 harnesses and figure out what goes where but for lack of time and patience I got lucky and found him a 1991 donor harness locally out of a 5 speed awd non abs car so it "should" be a direct replacement... We definitely appreciate your efforts helping and trying to resolve this but It turned into a nightmare fast ...and essentially impossible to help over the phone/net... Seems 91 is an odd ball year for this particular harness...
