Hey guys. Im thinking of buying this 1993 Eagle Talon TSI AWD to flip and make some coin off of. It has 144,00km and is fully loaded and all it needs is a transmission. The guy wants 750 for it and i think i could get him down even more. But my question is how hard would it be to swap a tranny? i have quite a bit of car knowledge and have replaced clutches(not saying thats difficult) and stuff like that. ive done some research and so far what ive been able to find is that one of the hard parts is to find out which tranny gear ratio it has(early or late). Any input or comments would be great thanks!

if you have access to a lift then you can put it in the air then you can drop the crossmember, drop the tranny and replace it. if not then you'll need to pull the motor. which really isnt too bad of a project i've done it quite a few times before on these cars. but if you can get the car in good shape for 750 or less i'd say go for it

alright thanks guys. so you think i should go for it? like it has pretty low k and what not. and if i can get it for cheap then i thinks its worth it. do you guys know how much a tranny is ruffly worth?

I'd pick it up for that price. Generally you can find a transmission in exceptional working condition for $200-$400.

yummy thats what i want to hear!! well ill see what i can do since ill need to tow it here. but thatnks man. any other suggestions?

Consider replacing the clutch, rear main seal, fulcrum ball, clutch fork, and having the flywheel correctly resurfaced while you're in there.
