Wow, that's a ton of protrusion from the fenderwell. Fender rolling alone just isn't going to do it, methinks. Ah well, I expected that; where's my hammer?

Have you had a chance to try them on the rear? I probably won't be able to pick up my wheels until this weekend, so I'm living vicariously through your pictures right now. :D

I'm getting tires mounted on the rims today so I'll get some photos up as soon as I can.

I'm hoping it'll come back in line a bit with proper camber at the proper ride height. I thought about trying them on the rear too late, I won't be able to try them now cause I get home late every day. Either way, it's on the stock suspension with no engine and no tires right now, so it's not very useful for gauging clearance...

Hey Steve, with the suspension hanging it will be tough to gauge how much they actually stick out. Once the car sits down it may be closer to fitting than it looks now. You won't know until you get some rubber on there and set the car down.

Can't wait to see Greg's photos... :( Now I'm wishing I got black instead of silver.

Am I retarded? Are all the center caps in the one box I didn't open? We'll find out :)

Yes, that's where the center caps were, no worries :)

The Team Dynamics wheels seem to tuck in a bit more than my Bograt racing set and there's tons of room in the wheel wells. Should be interesting to see how they perform at the race this weekend...

Greg, why'd you go from 9.6" to 9" wheels? (looking at your profile) Are you running 275's on these 9's too, or something smaller?

[edit] Did you get to weigh these puppies before putting tires on them?

And good luck at the race! Hopefully better luck than the rest of the season :)

Yeah... I'm still running the 275/40's. The great thing about these rims are the amount of inner area for even larger rotors like the 355mm (14 inch), right now I'm using 13 inch rotors. The 9.5 Bogart give some extra tread width on the 275 but not that much if I could put an even larger brake package on the car...

Greg, your car looks like it was made for that setup; externally, anyway, you appear to have a ton of room, and everything lines up perfectly. With the flares, of course. ;)

I can't believe how well those 275s fit on that rim: I thought they'd be bulging far more than that. How much did your tire guy swear at you for bring that to him? ;) Hmm...I might have to reconsider the 255s I was planning on using... :D

Ed, when I get some time I'll take a photo of a 275 on a 9" - 9.5" and a 10" rim. Yes I have 10 x 17's that I can run in the rear. I picked up a staggered set of Mustang Cobra rims as spares for dirt cheap. It's amazing how wide the tread width of 275 becomes on a 10" rim...

WOW :thumb: Those wheels look right at home on your car greg and hopefully they grip as well as they look. What is the weight like compared to your other wheels? Awesome :rocks:

Are you keeping the old black mustang cobra rims Greg?

I'm gonna do a complete survey of all the different sets of rims, tires, parts, turbos, motors, radiators, and so-on and so-forth over the next couple of months and have a good ol DSM garage sale.

You don't have to spend a lot of money to get a light weight wheel with good air flow & 17" tires come fairly cheep if you look in the right places. Below is a picture of the Centerline sport compact wheel that is rotary forged & very light weight. I believe it weighs 15lbs.

They have these at a overstock deal direct for $129 now that might sound like a lot but once you pick up one of these wheels & feel how light they are you will be amazed, oh yea & you can get some pretty good deals on tires at tirerack.com

JC78C, one of the reasons a few of us have been after this particular wheel is the brake clearance behind it. I can't speak for everyone else here, but weight definitely wasn't my primary concern with these. In fact, by my oh-so-accurate bathroom scale, it looks like these weight in at around 24lbs each, which I know I could have done better than if I had been willing to knock an inch off the width, or give up some of the brake clearance. (Does anyone who ordered a set of these have access to a real scale? I know mine is reading high, I just don't know by how much.)

If all you're looking for is a 17" wheel of any particular width with a very light weight to it, then there's plenty of choices on the market (assuming you're careful about offset). Not many of them can fit a 14" brake setup behind them with room to spare. :D

If weight and width is your main concern and not tire clearance you can do better than these wheels, but not without opening your wallet and I don't know if any of these are the right offset either. These are from tirerack.com

17x9 SSR Comp-H - 15.5-15.8 lbs - $429 each
17x9 Kosei K1-TS - 16.0 lbs - $259 each
17x9 WedSport TC-005 - 15.8 lbs - $ 459 each
17x9.5 Gram Lights 57C - 18.5-19.0 lbs - $289 each

Well, the issue isn't trying to find a lightweight wheel. It's trying to find a strong, lightweight wheel in the right size that will have the right offset and enough clearance for a big brake kit and can be dependable for road racing. Being lightweight is only one aspect. Have you had experience with the wheels you're suggesting - do they fit all the requirements that I mentioned? It's easy for people to throw out wheel brands but we're trying to make this thread more useful for those people (like myself) that are looking for certain specs for specific uses.
