Trying to replace my slave cylinder, the two 12mm bolts that are on now are incredibly tight. I feel like I'm destroying the head of the bolt but trying to do it with a ratchet.I was thinking about using an impact wrench to take them out. Good idea or no? The bolts dont seem to be rusted at all but I'm starting to think that the two 12mm bolts were impacted on. I know I can remove the front engine mount to get one of them but the other one is just as tight.

Both of those bolts should be accessible with no unbolting of motor mounts. You may need an extension but that's it. Plenty of room to hand torque and not slip off. I wouldn't use an impact unless forced to. You break off the ear to the trans and you're in a lot more trouble.

Apply lube to any exposed threads and go back and forth. Tighten a little loosen a little tighten a little loosen a little..I would use the ratchet so you can feel any slipping of the bolt head or shearing of the bolt.
Also if you have a small torch of some sort applying some heat to the bolt would help
Thank you for your time, Jason Penny

+1 this. Heat ftw too. I like using electric impact when I think the bolt is seized. Loosen, tighten, loosen, tighten, repeat until it starts coming loose is the key and just for a blip too so the impact breaks the rust loose. Using a socket on a seized bolt always breaks for me.

We use CRC Freeze-Off on a lot of rusted stuff PLUS HEAT and it has worked well for stubborn stuff. Let it sit, respray, heat up and hit it again with the stuff and ratchet or impact, going in and out as the guys described. It is important to not try and rip it all the way out at once. Sometimes I have to TIGHTEN a stuck fastener to get it to start to break loose but in your case I thing that is already done.
Best of luck and keep us posted.
