Hi, I haven't been on here in a while. (no problems LOL) Anyway I have searched and I want to reasure some answers I found. For a while now my clutch would just stick to the floor and I would have to get my foot under it to bring it back up. I got used to it, and also kind of figured it out to not let it get stuck. Example- instead of me holding the clutch down in first while at a stop light, I would put it in neutral. Well, when other people driving my car the clutch would stick to the floor all the time. I have bleed the clutch and it was ok for a while. Well 2 days ago I drove about 30 minutes from home, and went into a walmart. Car was fine on the drive execpt a few times the clutch would stick to the ground while shifting from 4-5th on the highway, or atleast try and I would stop it. Well when I try to leave I put it into reverse and have to stop because a car pull up fast. Well the clutch just droped to the floor and the car died. So the clutch stayed depressed, but I can bring it back up with my foot and it does stay depressed unless I push it again. So I want to make sure that this is my slave cylinder only. Just for the fact that when I was reading other post about it, it seem's like it may be more problems than this. The car won't go into gear, it will start, without even pushing the clutch down. I tryed to slam the car into reverse, and it died. Don't want to do any more damange than needed, so I haven't tryed anything else yet. It was dark so I am going today to fix it. Does this just sound like the slave cylinder or could it be more? Thanks in advance.

I was having the same problem as you not too long ago. I replaced my slave cylinder with another slave from a friends gst parts car and a new master and that solved my problem somewhat, clutch is kinda mushy feeling but it doesnt stay down anymore. I suggest you replace both master and slave cylinders at the same time and get the OEM pieces, they are the best, along with another clutch bleed and if possible get a s.s. clutch line. I am in plans to do that as well as sooon as i rack up some money. Best of luck :dsm:

I had the same problems with may car it was only my slave cylinder. But it was only about 70 bucks for both ( car quest came as set too boot so yea LOL.) and it came with all new hydraulic line and it is more than worth the insurance get em both and replace and your problems should go away.

The same thing happened to me this past summer. When my slave went out, the pedal went to the floor and stayed there. Be sure that if you replace it with OEM that you get the one specific to your vehicle. When I ordered mine, the place I bought it from sent me one from an AWD and I have a FWD. so the bolt holes did NOT line up. Also, if you are going to replace either your master or slave, replace both because they have the same amount of wear.

Should I just go to autozone, or local? Or buy online?

And thank you for reassuring this for me. I was pricing new clutch, and I had already put a new clutch in about 20k ago, along with a transmission so I was hoping it wasn't the clutch being as that would be really expensive.

I have never replace either of these my self, do you think I will be able to do this in the parking lot, to avoid towing the car 20+ miles?

Thanks again!,
Shane

You can but it is very uncomfortable, just have a few jack stands handy and enough tools. Also DO NOT buy the parts from your local auto parts store. Those units tend to fail shortly sometimes. Buy both oem units from the dealer or any other online race shop that sells them and be done for good, rather then be sorry and waste more money later on replacing them.

mine is doing this too, but its only getting stuck donw half way, then some times i have to pull it up with my foot, is this the same deal? or what?

Thanks

i had the same problem. i replaced the slave cylinder once and the master cylinder twice! it was so annoying. But luckily i went to advanced auto parts and if the master cylinder goes bad within a year of date of purchase you can return it for a new one. so i would go to advanced auto parts and replace the slave and auto cylinder.

I'd imagine that it is the same thing. The slave cylinder is going out. So I would have it replaced now, when you can drive it somewhere if needed, rather than being in my situation where I can't drive it now that it is out.

check inside the car for fluid leaking around the clutch, if so then your Master Cyl most likely shit the bed on you.

If you are going to replace one, might as well do both as cheap insurance.

I personally used oem parts -vs- autozone/napa/etc but that is entirely your call.

hmm, well my car is in getting a clutch so they are doing both of them and a SS clutch line now.

Also, would the slave going out cause my car to hesitate while WOT. I've noticed it has been doing that as well. I am having it towed, because walmart told me I couldn't work on it there. Damnit LOL
