Yes i searched first but no results that are similar to mine.

the slave cylinder was leaking. but it was at the part where the copper washers are at. so i took it off. now i pushed the slave cylinder back and a lil metal thing came out with a spring, it almost looks like it controls how much pressure it gets or something i could be wrong. does anyone know what i am talking about? if so do i need it in there? and if yes which way does it go back in spring first or spring out. if i had to guess it would be spring in.

and also is the slave cylinder suppose to have a springyness to it. is it suppose to move back out?

The slave cylinder is rediculously simple. The spring, plunger and actuating rod are the only moving parts to it. The spring and plunger are supposed to be in the cylinder bore and the rod sits in the cup end of the plunger. The outer rubber 'accordian' piece simply holds the rod in place and allows for some degree of movement.

If the spring and plunger came out, you need to reinstall them in order for your slave cylinder to function properly. The smaller diameter end of the spring attaches to the 'step' at the bottom of the plunger near the cylinder bore seal. Insert this assembly, spring first, into the cylinder body, put the bottom end of the rod into the 'cup' end of the plunger and attach the rubber 'acocordian' around the outer diameter of the cylinder body.

thanks for your reply. maybe i did not explain my self clearly enough. not your fault its not the actual plunger and rod that came out. i took the line off where the mrtal line connects to the salve cylinder. then i removed the screw where the line connects to the coupling where the copper o rings are. in that hole there was some kind of springy metal thing fell out. i m not sure which way it goes back in or if its needed at all really

I am sorry I had to jump through reading everything. If it is leaking it is no good. I have not changed one in a long time but the rod goes in the boot and then bolts in its place.I hope they have not changed things.( I don't mean to be a d*&k )

Just what i was looking for thank you. well i am only a stocker right now. so i will try without if not i will just put it back no big deal. thanks!

yea that's what wound up happening. i ordered a new one from napa only 20 bucks. now should i still take out this piece for a better pedal response or just leave it alone? i got some mixed things about it from the thread posted earlier

Could you explain this a little differently? I'm replacing my slave cylinder and the little spring fell out and I'm not sure where it goes.

Thank you for the diagram. I was just going to rebuild mine.

Here's a question... Will rebuilding the slave & not the master which is leaking be pointless? Im sure they both need service. But i cant find a kit for the master at Autozone. I havent looked anywhere else yet. I was there the other day & looked a few parts up i needed.

Getting this thing ready for another hot season & i dont want to be under there doing it when its 100+ outside. Thanks.

Are you really asking if rebuilding the slave will fix your leaking master? Not trying to be a smart ass but it seems like an obvious answer. If that is your question, then the answer is no. A leaking master cylinder is pretty serious and should be addressed immediately.

I couldn't tell you if there are any rebuild kits for master cylinders. I can tell you the part is like $65 as a whole from a discounting mitsu dealer. I just had mine fail on my 99 gsx and installed the replacement this weekend.

Oh haha I just found the spring in my new slave cylinder trying to figure out where to put the one that fell out. It's plate side up underneath the banjo bolt.

I ask if it is pointless to do atm if im not fixing the master, not if it will fix the master from leaking. Slow down and read. :thumb:
