Seems kinda laggy if your falling out of boost between shifts?

Just curious.

Well, the 57 trim is known to be a laggy wheel in general (which i can attest to after 8+ years of running it LOL ) BUt also i wasn't "power shifting" either i was letting fully off the gas on each shift. But the main issue was back then before i have all that i have now, the RPM at which i shifted at was lower than what i shift at now and the 26'' slicks dropped the RPM's below the spooling point of this turbo when i'd hit 3rd gear from spinning in 2nd with the peg leg diff...since the car wasn't going as fast as the tires were when i shifted and traction became a reality it was as if i had shifted even earlier than i was... but either way.. taller tires spread the gap between the gears no matter what, and in drag racing changin out tire diameter is about the closest thing to changing the ring and pinion gearing on a RWD car, smaller tires are like going deeper in gearing (like putting in 4.11's ) and putting taller tires on would be like going from 4.11's to 3.55's

Reason being for my granny shifts was that i was down just south of KC and had to make sure i could drive the car the 3.5+ hours back home to omaha, so although i shifted fast as i could i was granny shifting no matter how you look at it and taking many other precautions to ensure i dodn't have the tow bill of the decade for a ~200mile trip to the track LOL

But now that i have my TRE trans i wanna go back with the 24 inchers, and see if i can't get some deep 11's/high10's still granny shifting but using the n2o to get theblower back up to speed

Very quick car, I bet she's fun on the highway...time to go play with some bikes ;)

I love driving the car on the highway when I still ran on pump gas earlier this year. Now the car is just plain scary. I dont do many highway pulls anymore but I do cruise the car around town a ton.

Im gonna try a few more things before thinking about switching to a bigger tire. I do have plans to switch to an awd trans over winter. Right now on the fwd trans this is what I have figured:

On a 24.5 tire shifting out at 8500rpms :

1st - 0 to 48mph

2nd - 48mph(5000rpms) to 81 mph

3rd - 81mph(5600rpms) to 123 mph

4th - 123pmh(6100rpms) to ------

Based on this, on the 24.5 in tall tire the car never really falls out of boost as long as I can get the car in the next gear fast enough.

On the awd trans on the 24.5 tire shifting out at 8500rpms:

1st - 0 to 41mph

2nd - 41mph(4750rpms) to 75 mph

3rd - 75mph(5600rpms) to 113 mph

4th - 113mph(6100rpms) to 151mph

I think the only problem I could have here is on the 1-2, but that could be solved with the evo III first gear and input shaft. These numbers could be slighty off, I still need to do some more figuring. I dont think id ever max out the awd trans as far as gearing in 4th(151mph) but I think that traction might become an issue on this small tire for next year.

Thanks everybody who has posted info here....Since the this track day, I put the boost controller on the car, just need to change out the wastegate springs and start to turn the boost up. Hoping to hit the next track day with about 34psi. 10.50 @ 135+ ???????:D

The car might also be rocking some skinnies in the rear as well as having the front end of the car finished. Gotta go to the body shop in the morning for a quote...

awesome man good luck you got this in the bag if you can get it from spinning, more boost and better track prep you got this for sure. Really makes me think about all the work I put into my Gst to convert it to awd when I could of just switched to slicks. I do love the new awd but I do miss bangin off the limiter all the time, just extremely hated it with street tires on the street. have you ever ran the slick around town did they grip well? The street I feel AWD will stay on top of fwd with radials or slicks, although the track is a totally different story. Your giving the fwd guys some serious inspiration keep it up bro.

Just an update....I will be setting up a progressive boost controller over the next week on the car....I Just have a ballpark figure right now as to what boost I think will work good in each gear ...

I will update with some more info when its all set up...

Do you have a link to the boost controller that you are using?

It will be setup through ecmlink V3....

If you had asked me a year ago what boost controller I would use, I would have said AMS 1000.....But im gonna try out the link setup first.

Fwd, 2900lbs, and below 30 psi with 8.5:1CR! Very well done.

Thanks!!! Its a 7.8:1 compression motor...Its a stock 6 bolt shortblock out of a 92 talon. The shortblock has 113K miles on it, the head was just built earlier this year but it is unported, just has kiggly springs, engnbldr valves, viton seals, and HKS 272 cams. I might get around to putting a motor together this winter, just waiting to see what happens with this one first...

October 16th is the next available track visit for me, friend of mine is letting me use his truck and trailer to tow the car out there so I can really push it and not be stranded if something doesnt work out.

Why don't you put your NEW 10.7sec ET in the ECMLink best times list??? You'd be in the top 20.

Oh and are you running the .70 a/r BEP t3 housing? Or a Holset t3 housing?

That was on the .70 a/r BEP t3 housing...

The car was parted out, the turbo is soon to find a new home on my Mini....

That is a great run! And your 60 isn't too bad for being FWD, now if you were AWD I would have to pop your tires!
